In over 200 more Ab's it wouldnt have been very hard for Theriots OBP to drop down those 50 points. Kind of skewing it saying it was much much better. Also considering the age Cedeno was when he reached the majors for a large majority of those sporadic at bats. Theriot would need to get on base ~30 times or less in the next 236 PAs order to reach .288 OBP of Cedeno. In short, it would be very very hard for Theriot's OBP to drop 50 points by the time he has 996 PAs.
He struck out 8... Wow, 8 of the 9 outs came on the strikeout, with the 9th being a runner thrown out at 3rd. And he's down 4-0. Unluckiest BABIP ever?
I didn't realize this, but the Cubs are 2nd in MLB in walks, with 38. The Dodgers are first, with 40, but they've played 1 more game. The Cubs are hitting a paltry .263 as a team, but are near the top in OBP due to those walks.
