  1. Oh, I could go on and on about those other guys. I was just speaking on Blanco right now. He was batting .057 today. That's totally inexcusable. And making 7 figures? That's ridiculous. When Barrett gets his suspension, we'll see how great it is to have Henry in there every day. I like Barrett.
  2. I hope he works it out. He's kind of a local celebrity here, and it's good for the younger kids to have something real to relate to to shoot for. Plus, he's playing for "our" (Cubs) team. He was a good player all the way through. Played at my son's junior high and he's on the plaques and trophies and all that. Got signed out of a VERY mediocre h.s. program, and that's saying a lot. He's got the talent... time to regroup some.
  3. I think Blanco is the worst player on the team. He brings ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to it, not that there's much to start with but he stinks. We need a better backup catcher. There's gotta be something in Iowa. His average is terrible, he doesn't hit in the clutch, he's slow and ON AND ON AND ON.
  4. I'll take two Prozac, BIGGIE SIZE it please..... THIS GAME STUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. That's why I asked about Sunday..... today is just (more) cruel and unsual punishment for Cubs fans. You couldn't pay me enough to go to the game today. No way. If they pull it off, well, I'll eat my words. No question, and I'll do it happily.
  6. My son was often the best kid on a terrible team when he was playing, and he never seemed to mind it. Can kind of be a sick, twisted ego boost in a way!
  7. I like Z, but he sometimes seems to choke in the big games...the pressure gets to him. What are your guesses to which Z will show up?
  8. I think that Murton would be a great No. 2 hitter. He could potentially be a Sandberg-like hitter one day. You never know. But probably never have that defensive prowess.
  9. Jeff.. I don't agree or disagree with your statement, but just curious why you think that? I know they said in Spring Training he had issues with defense. Is that it?
  10. HI, I'm from the hometown of Brandon Sing. He seemed to show promise at first, but since he got sent back down, he's had a tough time. Every Saturday in our local paper they run the stats of area guys in the Minors. I see that this week Sing was sent to AA from AAA. WOW. Does anyone know what happened? Is it mental from not making the squad?
  11. He likes being a Cub, heavens knows why. I like having him around for the younger guys, especiallly someone like Marshall who has a bright future. For that reason alone we need to keep him.
  12. Well, Matt is getting chances he might not normally get if the Cubs had more options. Let's see what he does with his chances the rest of the year. I really liked Corey, too, and that didn't work out so well. I think Matt has great potential, and if the season is probably already tanked, might as well let him try.
  13. Yeah.... You could try that resale thing off of Cubs.com... where season ticket holders sell them. Some of the prices weren't bad. Hey, you'll never "Cubs warp" your kids as bad as I did... I named my son after one of them.... oh well.... its nothing years of therapy won't fix!
  14. There's nothing good AT ALL coming off the Cubs' bench. I dread seeing Blanco in there. The bench is not deep enough. I do hope they bring up Womack ASAP. He's like Lofton. He can get stuff started at least. Change something. Change ANYTHING!
  15. Oh, man... that's soooo funny! I am not so sure that four is a good number. How about THREE pitches? Four is asking a lot right now! ha ha
  16. I don't care what Ozzie says. I just don't like him. Never have. Is it a shocker that the Sox win? Is he a genius? No. No way. They BETTER with with that team. You watch the Cubs and it's like you are watching the movie Major League... "Who are these bleeping guys?" Actually, this whole year is like that movie!!
  17. So did Dusty say he called for that bunt? Who in heaven's name bunts with two outs and two on in the ninth, especially considering Neifi is Mr. Speedster!! That was RIDICULOUS. I was screaming at the TV... again! I was SHOCKED. I'm STILL shocked. DUMB....
  18. I'm on that bandwagon for sure.... he's so good they'll probably trade him!
  19. Hey.. I say keep it coming, because I am a writer/editor and stuff like that keeps me employed!! I'm sure sometimes the Cubs PR staff must cringe knowing they're popping off with quotes like that and not being able to step in and help... I know the feeling!
  20. The real question is ... CAN WE PLAY THE NATIONALS ALL YEAR???? They are BAD.....
  21. I saw Joe Morgan tonight. It seems to make some sense on the surface, but this is from a guy that's seeing Cub highlights (if that), reading the paper and talking to people. Sit and watch this train wreck day in and day out and you'd probably have a different opinion. Then he says he talked to Dusty and Dusty said he doesn't want to leave Chicago. Yeah, there's a shocker. Nice paycheck and the best baseball town in the bigs. Maybe we should swap sunflower seeds for No Doz and wake these boys up.... and that includes Mr. Rothschild.
  22. I wash thinking the SAME thing. It's gone beyond bad, or tough luck. It's really LAUGHABLE...and people that are fans of the other teams don't even razz ya anymore because it's just silly at this point. I can never remember them being this bad...
  23. I agree that it is refreshing to see some of these guys show emotion. Barrett always seems like a "real" baseball guy... like he loves the game and doesn't want to win... not just worried about a big paycheck. He wants to see a good game and a good effort. Dusty did look a little fired up, too, especially after Cedeno's "time out" attempt. It's still a drag....
  24. Hey... I've really just about had it. Three errors in ONE inning? They're really bad. Is it September yet? I don't think I can handle it. Maybe they can sell some of their players at their next Cubs Care garage sale. Then again, who would buy them? Glad I didn't have too many high hopes for this season.
  25. No kidding... I agree Goony. At least getting some money for it justifies the reason for putting up with it. The rest of us are fools enough to do it for free and come back year after year! Ha ha...
