  1. Big Z is everything you want in a baseball player. I hope he wins the Cy Young this year. He deserves it, even if it is on a LOSING team....
  2. I wish him all the best. My son is named Ryne, after Ryne Sandberg, so I love to see other Rynes have success!
  3. If you suffered through a FOX broadcast of the Cubs on Saturday, maybe you heard them call the Cubs "destiny's doormat." Good grief. It's not destiny. It's a lousy manager and not enough good players. I'm pretty sick of the curse talk and all that. Too easy to balme a goat or destiny, but that's not it at all.
  4. It used to be that I could relax and take a nap or go to bed with the game on. Now I get SO AGGRAVATED by them that I lay there angry... back to counting GOATS, I guess!!!!
  5. Oh, geez. Who in the world would take NEIFI BAKER in a trade??????
  6. I believe it. This team drove me to drink a LONG time ago.
  7. Did you see the post-game show? They did a survey asking where Barrett should bat, and fifth got the most votes with second, second. Third wasn't a choice.
  8. You can write what you want, say it how you will, bottom line is that my hermit crab can pitch better than he does. Maybe he's Dusty's long lost son... that's all I can figure.
  9. We all love Z, but you know, we can't totally appreciate how awesome he really is on a team like this. I get a real kick knowing he's gonna pitch. I LOVE his attitude. You just don't hear that stuff anymore in this world of BIG CONTRACTS. If they let him go, I'll lose my will to live!!!!
  10. We could lose them all, especially if Dempster comes in with less than a three-run lead......
  11. I was wondering if anyone can substantiate a rumor I heard from a second party that the White Sox are interested in Eyre and Howry. I heard it from someone who said he heard it on the radio somewhere in Chicago. Guess it makes sense, but no word on who we'd get.
  12. Carlos Lee was my favorite White Sox player when he was there. I am a Cubs fan, but I liked Lee. We need Lee just to have something to jazz up the team. They used to be just BAD. Not only are they BAD, they are BORING now, too. Lee would give us something to watch..... take the edge off the rest of the season. No more excuses for Depmster..... he's gotta go. But he's got a good thing going... he gets paid rather he does his job right or wrong. I should be so lucky! Murton, Pagan and Cedeno are our future. I have a feeling Crusty doesn't like Murton though, so I bet he'll be gone soon. I want to go back to teh 80s. We were bad most of those years, but we had fun players like Sandberg, Dawson and Sutcliffe. Ah.....
  13. HEY!!!!!!!!!!! Are you serious???? TWO wins?????? That IS progress!
  14. I was searching for a new goal for this team, and wow... LAST PLACE! It's a REACHABLE goal! All right! Now life is worth living... let that L flag fly!!! Go Cubs!!
  15. No way you could survive this team without beer. I agree with the rest of it, but we've got to reinstate the beer.
  16. You know when he comes in, he needs AT LEAST one run, obviously more at this point. But he cannot close a game without giving up a run. This time he took us within a run from the Promised Land then pulled out the rug. I actually was believing he could do it! He's gotta go. What is it with the Cubs and their HORRIBLE closers?
  17. The Score made a mockery of that play at the plate. They were having people call in and pledge money to get Dusty a booster seat so he could see plays at the plate since he said that the reason he didn't argue it was because he couldn't see it from the dugout. Now if you've ever been in the dugout, it's true you can't see from there, but you CAN get yourself into position TO see it. By the way... they never did get enough for the booster seat!
  18. Ha, now that's funny AND embarrassing. But hey, I'm a Cub fan and I smiled today... that's a start!! Lord knows I wasn't smiling much after today's game!
  19. Talk on the Score today was that Maddux could be a Dodger by Aug. 1. Who knows, but I'm sure he wishes it was August already!
  20. I don't care about anything but getting him out of the closer role. He's not working, whatever the reason... hurt, not a closer, etc. How many games does he have to blow before they will pull him? It's sick.
  21. Wow. Hadn't heard that about Bynum. Hope he'll be OK. Regardless of what ya think of him, I hope he'll be fine long term. I have to say, I like Nevin in there. He's my kind of ball player... kind of tough and maybe one of three actually able to hit a homer. They probably will get rid of him. Dumb.
  22. Get over it? Yes, it is a game, but it's not that easy when you have a passion for the Cubs like so many of us do. It's because they're not simply a BAD team.. they're a RIDICULOUS team. I don't even know what to think. No way to fix them. Depressing, sad, etc. It's all of those....
  23. Well if ya really want to torture yourself, go to the official Cubs gift store right inside the front gate. They are selling Marlins/Cubs championship T's for $2. I almost got one for a joke, but it's not been long enough. It's not funny to me yet... even for $2!!
  24. I'm not a Dusty fan, but Rothschild has GOT TO GO. He doesn't even look like he wants to be there, so let's just do him a favor and give him his walking papers. He's gotta be going through lots of shoes this year, with all the trips to the mound.... BUH BYE.
  25. Maybe they want to get axed. Who would want to sit through those games EVERY DAY? Not me, even if I got paid for it. Maybe they are looking at other job offers and figure WHAT THE HECK. Those comments are DESERVED. I don't think the Pope could zip it during a game like today. Today was the first day I actually turned it off by choice. My daughter wanted to watch a DVD and I told her to go ahead. She said, "But the game's still on." I said, "Who cares." Welcome back D Lee! Aren't ya glad to be part of the nightmare, not just sitting on the bench!?
