  1. Rocket, you know as well as I do that this management team doesn't give a rat crap about what anyone thinks outside their inner circle of scouts and coaches. God, being a Cubs fan absolutely sucks. Wow I couldn't have said it better myself. We give so much to this organization and they give us a 48-66 team.
  2. The problem I have is that prior to this game (no pun intended) I kept saying maybe this is all mental that he's just been a headcase since Game 6 of the '03 NLCS but now I'm starting to think he doesn't have it anymore. Honestly how can someone go from being so dominant to be so bad?
  3. Marmol. He's got good life on his fastball with a ton of movement almost too much cause he has walked 43 in 58 IP. Marshall seems more like a bottom of the rotation guy because he needs to rely more on location and deception than stuff.
  4. Wow my eyes started to water watching that. Even though the Cubs stink this year I'm proud to be part of this wonderful fan base. Hopefully it will happen in our lifetime because THAT would be a site to behold.
  5. Someone on the Cubs.com board posted that they would start the wave in the opposite direction that it was coming from so that it would offset the wave....now that would have been a site to see.
  6. Prior without a doubt he was extremely dominant at USC and you can't pass up top of the rotation type ptiching. It looks horrible now because Mauer .365 and Prior has a 6.64 ERA but you cant pass up pitching. Part of me wants to believe that MP will return to '03 form but being the pessimistic Cub fan that I am he may never return to the form....at least while he's on the Cubs.
  7. Then how are you a Cubs fan? Probably because I grew up in the Chicagoland area and the Cubs were always on WGN day in and day out. I think I'm like everyone on this board in that I love the Cubs win or lose.
  8. I dont think so...ROY goes to Francisco Liriano unless his arm falls off and he might be in the running for the AL CY also. Papelbon picked the wrong year to be a good rookie pitcher there are 3 that are better Liriano, Verlander, and Jered Weaver.
  9. Finishing third wouldn't really matter the only thing that matters is 1st or 2nd (if it gets you the wildcard) To me if you dont make the playoffs the season is a failure...almost doesn't count.
  10. I think he's already won people over, he's already showing flashes of the hitter that we thought we were getting. His OBP is anywhere close to where you want it but remember was at .290 for a while...you can't simply ignore his .345 BA and .380 OBP in July. If they didn't trade him on Mon. they BETTER re-sign him.
  11. I think he's been back since last Thurs. I was at the game and remember seeing him at 3B, but yeah I am surprised to see him back so soon but I wouldn't bet against that happening again.
  12. I would have to go with Cedeno, he's cheaper and I feel that in due time he can be a better offensive player than Izturis. Izzy is due to make like what 4 mil next season??? That's a pretty high amount for someone that really only gives you a great glove.
  13. Yeah he is, remember in the '03 NLCS when himself, Lyons, and Leiter were Pro-Marlins. I also remember him saying somehting along the lines that A.J. Burnett had more electric stuff than Prior and Wood when healthy. When he said that I knew he was anti-Cubs.
  14. Yeah but like every one says will he be able to pitch 3 maybe 4 nights in a row and will he be able to warm up in the bullpen quick enough. I've heard it takes him a long time to warm up. If he can do those to things he would be an awesome set-up man for Demp.
  15. Why not bat Barrett second he's an on-base machine and he's doesnt strike out a lot. Izturis would then move to the 7 slot ahead of Cedeno. Man we better get Lee during the offseason or we will not only have a weak rotation we will have a weak offense as well.
  16. Yeah that and the "Oh it's to cold to play at Wrigley in April and May" are the lamest excuses in the book. Why is that the cold weather isn't a problem for the other teams?
  17. Hopefully this sets the table to make a run at Lee during the off-season. Don't forget that the NL is weak and probably won't be any better next season so the Cubs are one big bat and one front line starter from maybe being a contender....aw who am I kidding this is the Cubs they will find some way to mess this up.
  18. What the Cubs have done to the Cards right now just proves that baseball is an unpredictable game. I mean the ability to execute bunts, run the bases well, hit with RISP, hit for power, take walks where did all of this come from? Watch the Cubs get swept by the D'backs and will be back to the cellar but it's still always fun to sweep the Fardinals.
  19. I dont think Prior can be depended on anymore. I'm on the Hendry better sign a formidable number 2 SP next season or '07 will be very much like '06.
  20. The Cubs should seriously considering batting this man 8th and moving Cedeno to the 9 hole when Z pitches. Carlos is about as "all or nothing" as it gets...4 of his 8 hits have been HR's and he has also K'd 16 times in 46 AB's...so pretty much he's gonna hit a HR or he's going to K.
  21. I think Hill suffers from Mark Prioritis. How can he be a pitcher who has a 1.80 ERA with 135 K in 100 IP with 21 BB's in the minors then a 9.13 ERA in the majors. He has the stuff his problem is between the ears.
  22. Haha I know right. I can't believe that A-Ram not hustling is what people constantly want to point out as the problem with the '06 Cubs. I'm sure if he hustled the Cubs would be leading the NLC by 5.5 games.
  23. Hendry, McFailure, and the Tribsters don't care about the fans. He will be here for the remainder of the season no questions asked.
  24. Big Z has become one of the best pitchers in the game. Other than that you're right everything else has gone downhill. Truthfully I believe that we need to clean house (especially from a front office standpoint) before this team can become a contender again.
  25. Isn't that why we labeled the White Sox fans as bandwagoners, because they only started going to the games when the team was winning. For us to stop showing up because our team is bad would make us hypocrits.
