    I dont really see anything wrong with them having a good time, its been a dreadful season for these guys and they are trying to find a way to lighten up and have fun.

    Man I don't know..I think we have been so patient with Wood and his inability to ever stay healthy has to be a concern. if he were 25 or 26 I would say give him the incentive laden contract but he's 29 and hasn't done much for the Cubs the past 2 seasons.

    The sad thing is that he'll stink it up so bad with the Cubs that with his $3 mil contract and his +7.00 ERA he will be unmoveable. Why hasn't this guy been DFA'd can someone please answer this question.

    Great. Now Hendry will over pay for one or the other... ...or he'll overpay for the amazing Cliff Floyd.

    Yeah considering Weaver, Wilson, Choi, Pollite, and many others were DFA'd. I mean I understand Hendry doesn't want to admit he made a bad investment but it's time to own up and cut the guy. He had one career year and the Glendon Rusch we are seeing today is the real Glendon Rusch.

    What I can't understand is why this guy thinks that fans will continue to support trash. Cubs fans have been waiting a long time to see their team make it to the promised land and what are we supposed to do sit around and smile and be happy because our team was out of the playoff hunt in May? I'm black and I cannot stand Dusty Baker and his inept managerial skills but does that make me racist?

    Why not just shut him down for the rest of the season? I mean it's not like we're in the thick of a pennant chase. I really don't like how this organization handles it's players. I know it's him saying he wants to come back but someone should tell him that it serves no purpose for him to come back this season.

    Yeah I think we should wait and see what he has...his control is what is going to make him or break him because he isn't going to blow people away with his stuff but man that pic of him hugging his mom and dad was priceless.

    No I don't think they are I haven't heard about it a million times on Sportscenter the past couple of days. The way they talk about it you would think that this five game set was the ALDS or something.

    Murton is coming on but if Hendry has the chance to pull the trigger on a power bat I say do it. Jones isn't going anywhere with that contract and I really see Hendry re-signing Pierre so that might leave Murton as a 4th outfielder. Honestly I wouldnt be upset if Matt Murton is the opening day starter in LF in April '07. Neither Izturis or Cedeno are going anywhere I think Hendry plans for that to be his middle infield of the future.

    Yeah it's awesome to see Big Z out there cheering on his teamates. I really think Big Z is slowly becoming a leader on this team not vocally but by example. I wish all of our players had his desire.

    Cantu wouldn't be a bad guy to get but Hendry seems content with Cedeno at 2B. I say we wait a year ot two before we try to find a replacement for Ronny.

    I'm a pessimist too which is why I'm saying the Cubs won't sign Schmidt, MP will miss the start of ST for the 4th consecutive season and Hendry won't sign a good SP. Personally I hope I'm wrong but it's hard to be optimistic about this team anymore.

    How ridiculous would his numbers be if he worked the count more and didn't always swing for the fences. Now I might sound crazy but I think it would be be up there with Pujols and the Ortiz.

    I don't know about that one. Even if Hendry somehow gives Baker an extension why would he even want to come back and manage this mess of a team.

    Couldn't have said it better myself. The 2007 starting rotation is looking much like Carlos Zambrano and the 4 question marks. Part of me wants to believe that Hendry will pull off some miraculous deal for a top of the line starter but being a Cub fan I know that this probably won't happen.

    If Baker is an idiot what does that make McFailure and Hendry?

    I don't think MP can be depended on to be a #2 with his history of injuries and the dreadful season he's had thus far. In order for that rotation to fill out they need a top of the line starter (Zito or Schmidt which they probably wont get) for the #2 slot, then another proven veteran (Marquis or Meche) for the #3, then if MP is healthy put him #4 and #5 slot goes to one of the sophmores. At this point anything you get from MP is a huge bonus.
