  1. Yep, Hendry mentioned that in his Score670 radio interview with Mike Murphy a couple weeks back. I don't remember the exact quote, however.
  2. It's like the red light district in Amsterdam.
  3. I thought Vance was in the "Hire Davey Johnson" bandwagon (I refused to shorten it, ), so if this is the "Real Vance" then he has had some flipping of the mind. Nah...he's been firmly for Dierker first, Johnson second...pretty closely for quite a while. Didn't Vance start the Dierker for manager thread as well? Yep, I think Vance's backing solidified after reading Dierker's book.
  4. That point of impact could hit cataclysmic proportions.
  5. So they start the season with Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez and will finish the year with his brother Livan. But, this one won't cause the sibling rivalry the Angels dropping Jeff for Jered Weaver did/should. Well 1st off, they're half brothers. 2nd, they were not traded for each other, nor was one DFA'd to make room for the other Half brothers or not they are still brothers. Where did I say the Hernandez half brothers were traded for each other? My point was simply that a brother(or half brother) tandem essentially fills a pitching roster spot of the other brother(half brother if you will) on the team. Don't you have some White Sox fans to shout at you petulant little hate monger?
  6. I happen to like the lights in Wrigley. I remember a concern of fans was how it would make Wrigley look. From an aesthetic standpoint they did an exceptional job, imo. For selfish reasons night games allow me to actually watch home games live as opposed to replay of that day's game. That being said I do like day games better overall, but like night games in a limited amount as they do now. And most importantly there was nothing more annoying than watching a game and then having it suspended due to darkness especially if you were attending that game.
  7. I never used to believe in "fairweather fans". I now do. Ignorant statement. I have always been a Angels fan. I even write in LAA fan forums. Didn't you have an Oakland A's Barry Zito avatar before the John Lackey one?
  8. I guess in a perfect Cubbie world, the Yankees would be consumed by the signing of Barry Zito. The Mariners would sign Schmidt allowing him to come home and pitch; therefore, they are not willing to ante up for Matsuzaka. And well, since the Mets and Kaz Matsui had a bad experience together this scares Matsuzaka and his agent forcing them to look elsewhere. (If he's friends with Kaz Matsui this may help out more). Oh and of course the Cubs have to be willing to spend the big bucks for him. And the Dodgers and Angels forget that Matsuzaka is available? The Dodgers devote all their time to Zito fighting off the Yanks(but lose out). Would the Angels be interested in pitching? They have a pretty good staff as it is unless Colon's injury is something that will persist next season. (Note: I don't know his injury) Since they were rumored to be willing to part with Ervin Santana I sort of ruled them out whether right or wrong in that assessment. Lackey Colon Weaver Escobar E. Santana
  9. I find that last comment rather unlikely. You're telling me it's not harder to pitch to the modern lineup, where anybody can take you deep at any moment, compared to some of those lineups filled with scrawny and/or paunchy smokers and drinkers who lived off the slap single? Hey, I know that team! Dang you Juan Pierre! Sober up already!
  10. I was at that doubleheader. I paid $100.00 for standing room. I got the ticket the day of the games.

  12. Considering I've seen pretty much zilch connecting the Cubs and Dierker in any managerial speculation in the media, I'd say the Girardi option is more likely, but then who knows...the media is probably speculating just as much as we are. I find it quite unfortunate that Dierker hasn't been mentioned in connection with the Cubs job. Maybe Bruce could ask Jim his thoughts on Dierker....(hint, hint) Has he expressed interest in managing again? In particular, has he ever given any indication he would take a job in an organization other than the Astros. If the answer is "no" to both of those questions, then the media probably just assumes he is not an option.
  13. How did Matt Kemp and Delwyn Young look for Las Vegas?
  14. So they start the season with Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez and will finish the year with his brother Livan. But, this one won't cause the sibling rivalry the Angels dropping Jeff for Jered Weaver did/should.
  15. 10 points HEY!!! I used that exact point why Ramirez should use the escape clause and all y'all just said Beltre was coming off a career year. All garbage. "all y'all"? are you really from the Chicagoland area? By the way, I think his Beltre reference was a way of mocking you.
  16. So let me see if I get this straight. Since your posts last weekend, you have posted from the following places: Louisiana Texas California Arizona Virginia Pennsylvania North Carolina Florida If I may ask, how many hours/miles can you drive a day legally? Edit to add: I wrote this before your previous post.
  17. Was the reason ever given?
  18. According to Cot's................
  19. Not to completely derail this thread completely, but briefly what happended to Matt Bush and how is he doing(assuming he is playing)? I know he got into some trouble after being drafted. Does he have a bad reputation or does it seem that was a one time thing?
  20. Jeff Garlin is a guest with Santo and Hughes. Santo professing his love for the movie, "Daddy Day Care".
