  1. I wish he would have just let Blanco swing away rather than bunt Theriot from first to second.
  2. So do you guys think he is going through a hot streak or is he going to be that good? I actually think he is a good player. I mentioned in yesterday's game thread that I think he'll be hated by Cubs' fans along the lines of Matt Morris and Jim Edmonds.
  3. They finally get someone up in the pen. By the way, Rothchild used the old bullpen phone as opposed to the wireless which was sitting right next to it. Did they screw up those phones too?
  4. Cubs might be winning, but they are only 1-11 w/RISP today. Hendry can't be happy with that.
  5. Yep...he looked like he needed an oxygen tank on the bench. That being said he was moving pretty quick around those bases.
  6. Z tried to break the bat over his knee and failed this time.
  7. That is former Cubs' announcer Josh Lewin. If he said that during a Cubs' broadcast, he would be canned.
  8. Dusty addresses Zambrano and pitch counts.
  9. I can't take it anymore. Lou Piniella is making my ears bleed. I'm switching to Pat and Ron.
  10. Will there be any retribution today for Rolen getting hit by a pitch yesterday?
  11. Lou Piniella praising Murton. "Good hitter and good speed." Ugh......"working with Gene Clines about pulling the ball and it is working".
  12. Wow! Z just smacked himself in the head. Sort of like football player minus the helmet.
  13. 2007 version of the College of Coaches
  14. Just out of curiosity, I wonder if Krivsky could have worked a deal (before the trade with the Nationals) with the Padres for Linebrink. The Padres dangled Linebrink because of their desperation for a third baseman. A Felipe Lopez package to Padres since he has played some third base. Granted he has not played a lot of third base, but then again the Padres did settle for Todd Walker who is a good offensive pick up, but a definite gamble since he never played third. Or even Ryan Freel could have been a posible part of a package for Linebrink rather than Lopez. It would just depend on who Towers preferred in the package Lopez or Freel.
  15. Why is he your first choice? Dierker is Vance's first choice now. Here's his reasoning for Dierker (if you haven't read this already).
  16. The only explanation I got is injury. Otherwise, Dusty was just trying to be cute in a desperate attempt to beat LaRussa with some crazy strategy because he felt his bullpen was all rested up. He had a sore bicep. Dusty would not have taken him out otherwise. It was just talked about in the post game press conference.
  17. He finally snapped, got into a fight with some White Sox fans, and is in jail right now. I'm going to go with hospital. I'll go with girlfriend monopolizing his time and helping to ease his hatred toward White Sox fans.
  18. I don't think it answers the Cubs' offensive woes. They could bring in a defensive catcher, but most defensive catchers are just that defensive catchers. So they would essentially take Barrett's offensive production and move it to left field (where it doesn't look as good as it does at catcher) and find a catcher who will provide very little offensively. And not to mention most likely make LF an adventure defensively.
  19. You're such a pessimist, it's not over. You're right. (as I reach over and grab my book of Yogisms and recite.....it's not over til' it's over, it's not ever til' it's over)
