  1. At least there is no Joe Morgan tonight, since he is at the Little League World Series.
  2. Was Larry Bowa well-received as a Cub? I couldn't stand him. I didn't think he was much of a fan favorite, but I could be wrong considering I was just a kid when he played.
  3. Last time I checked, you win with offense too. Pitching and defense, is more important than offense. If you dont have a solid pitching staff supported with a solid defense, your not going to win many baseball games. Yet, you advocate the Cubs retaining Juan Pierre who hurts the Cubs from a defensive standpoint because of his weak arm. Pierre has 0 errors so far for the Cubs this year. For the 100th time, all Pierre needs to do is throw the ball to the cut-off man. Didnt Pierre win a world series with his bad arm in CF for the Marlins? No, Pierre was part of a team that won the World Series. His bad arm really didn't help much. The point is, you can win a world series with Pierre in CF. To get back to the original topic of the thread does that mean that you cannot win a World Series with Todd Walker at second(starting)? I know he hasn't won one, but a lot of good/solid players haven't.
  4. Wasn't Walrond pitching some middle relief for the Iowa Cubs? And if so, is he more geared toward the role of starter or middle reliever?

  6. He does the local FOX post game show here in the Chicagoland area. So he is only seen after the Saturday FOX games. He does the post game for both the Cubs and White Sox games.
  7. When did he leave the show? Wasn't he with the Padres?
  8. Ha! Gary Bennett interviewed by Rosenthal. Only in Cubdom does Gary Bennett get a post game interview and is named player of the game.
  9. Only as a Cubs' fan can one fear facing Gary Bennett.
  10. So he narrowed it down to three places. How many body parts are there? A lot more than three. A pretty good analysis is you ask me.
  11. Pitched around him for a couple pitches then just intentionally walked him. Bases loaded for Rolen
  12. Wow....all Nevin today!!! Home Run ties the game at 1.
  13. Actually, I think Dusty is better suited to manage in the AL. He won't have to ever take out his pitcher for a pinch hitter so the starters will all be throwing about 130-140 pitches a game. Dusty will be able to really rely on his horses. Yes, but it does put a wrinkle in his need to make double switches.

  15. Are you saying that you don't see the clear connection between the Chicago Cubs and baldness? Ron Santo= Chicago Cubs = baldness = bad toupee = need for hair plugs
  16. If? If Hendry would have signed Vlad, Tejada... Your bringing up a totally different subject. He's making a correlation with the word "if". The point being is that you can't take out Pierre's slump and and say "if" he had not had that slump he would be over .370(obp). Just as the Cubs/Cubs' fans cannot hoist a World Series trophy and claim that they were denied it solely because of not having signed Vlad or traded for Tejada. The Cubs failed to sign/trade for Vlad and Tejada just as Pierre failed to get the job done earlier in the year. The outcome being that his obp is around .330 and not .370 or higher.
  17. Agreed. When NFL Films originally chose the voice Kallas for their highlights they made the perfect choice.
  18. And yet you're all about Juan Pierre. I was wondering about that myself.
