  1. I recently watched a documentary on the Cape Cod League, Touching the Game. Sam Fuld is one of the players who is featured in the film. Anyways, what can be expected of him? I know he is a 25 year outfielder from Stanford currently at Tennessee. What are his strengths and weaknesses? I looked at his numbers and nothing really stands out. Just curious after seeing the documentary. Note: I wanted this to be a seperate thread, but for what ever reason I screwed up and posted in this thread. :(
  2. I don't think he does he anymore. But, Hawk used to go silent on weekend games even when does Sox were having a good game. The reason is that he had a television set up in the booth so that he could watch NASCAR. Supposedly, he was more interested in the race rather than the game. I don't believe he has ever done this since working with DJ, but I guess he did it routinely on the weekends when working with Wimpy (Tom Paciorek).
  3. Cut Hawk a break! He contributed greatly to the game. Maybe not numbers wise, but he was the first player ever to wear batting gloves.
  4. I didn't watch the youtube video, but saw it when it was happening this afternoon. It was great because after the commercial break the game comes back on and Hawk mentions that he was informed about the obstruction. How was he informed of it? He went and asked Bob Brenly. Amazing! I've never heard of a broadcaster going to the other team's booth to find out what's happening or atleast I've never heard a broadcaster admit to it on the air.
  5. If they do make a deal today, either Hendry is working late or they did a really good job of not letting it leak. They must be waiting for the ESPN nationally televised game, so then it gives the trade more exposure. They're just that narcissitic.
  6. Figures....got to face Prince for the final out.
  7. Hart just tied the Brewer/Royals game with a homer with one out in the 9th.

  9. The UHS. Ultimate Homers Society. Jerry Reinsdorf at the helm.
  10. Did Hawk win an award or atleast was in contention for an award....Ford Frick award, I think? And if so, who awards that?
  11. With the win the all-time series will be tied at 30 wins apiece.
  12. That is the first time I've ever heard an announcer say he went to the opposing teams' broadcasters to find out what happened.
  13. Great to flip between the two broadcasts........ Kasper.....only going to be one out Harrelson and DJ..........gotta by two outs HArrelson thought it might even be called a triple play
  14. Marshall was throwing fine, and Dempster is not available. This was a dumb change. didn't the sox go like 1-66 against someone's bullpen last week? not saying he shoulda pulled him, but going from a soft tossing lefty to a hard throwing righty might just put the dagger in a team that clearly can't adjust to new pitchers. they weren't doing crap against the guy who was in there already hey, i said i didn't agree with the choice, but i can see where they got their inclination to do so. we also don't know if marshall said something to lou or larry when he was in the dugout last time. he didn't seem to argue too much when lou came out for him. That is very, very true. Marshall was neither surprised or upset. They had hit 3 or 4 warning track flyouts the last few outs, so maybe he told them he simply didn't have much left in the tank, or maybe they decided it themselves and he just agreed. Santo and Hughes are saying they believe he asked to be pulled.
