  1. For the purposes of contrast, here is Jim Tracy's approach. http://msnbc.msn.com/id/12998136/ PITTSBURGH - Manager Jim Tracy says he is convinced that he’s done everything he can to put the last-place Pittsburgh Pirates in position to win games, and all but pinned the blame Friday for the team’s worst start in 52 years on his players. “I can’t catch it, I can’t throw it and I can’t hit it,” Tracy said. “That’s not my job. I’m not allowed to do that. My job is to get them in a position to where the stage is set and the opportunity is there for them to carry it out, finish the job and win.”
  2. I thought he was out. Is that Astroturf?
  3. They'll probably fire Speier using him as the scapegoat and retain Clines and Rothchild.
  4. Nine innings is more than enough of this pathetic team. There should be a rule against the Cubs and extra innings.
  5. The Braves must be shaking in their spikes with Hairston then Neifi up to bat.
  6. Oddly enough I was just recently wondering if Billy Koch was still in baseball in any capacity and lo and behold I found this link about him on the Baseball Fever website. Koch, his wife and two kids have an unknown skin disease that is affecting some people in the Bay area and Florida. The link is there along with the video that provides the entire story. This story is extremely bizarre. http://www.ktvu.com/station/9264350/detail.html
  7. Bay tags up and runs over Munson ans scores. Munson couldn't hang on to the ball. Pirates win 8-7 in 18 innings.
  8. Wild pitch on an intentional walk.....Bay to third. Complete intentional walk C. Wilson on 1st. No outs

  10. Zero & two, respectively Good to see the Cubs are sticking to the game plan.
  11. I just started watching. Out of curiosity, how many walks have the Cubs taken today and how many have the Braves had?
  12. I don't think Baker is capable of this. He lets the highs get too high and the lows too low. Flipping the "game ball" to Russ Ortiz in Game 7 of the World Series tipped me off to this. this is weird to me, i know (please dont ask) Russ Ortiz through my sister and bro-in-law, they guy (Ortiz) LOVES dusty. My bro-in-law is a huge supporter of what Ortiz has to say.. and hates Leo Mezzone and my bro-in-law is a huge Billy Beane fan...add that up and make 2+2=4. Why does he hate Leo Mazzone?
  13. No today was not his fault, but in the ninth he should have made a statement and pinch hit for Neifi. Murton, Hairston whoever, but just not Neifi. He seems to get rewarded for his blunders. His horrible bunt to end the game a couple weeks ago resulted in starting the next day and now he has two horrendous errors on one play and gets to stay in the game. Granted Dempster gets some blames but so does Neifi.
  14. So do I, but the one in Pittsburgh wasn't bad.
  15. I think I'm up for the task! Thanks for recommending me. By the way is this the all HiTops thread? If it is here you go: http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j163/Niner74/dcp_0216.jpg
  16. Well, one difference is that Cuban has expressed interest in owning a baseball team. I'm sure if Buss or Kraft expressed interest then a lot of Cub fans would clamor for them.
  17. Or Jim Bowden assuming he's available. I'm sure he would like to hang out in the bleachers. We'll just institute a designated bleacher bum to drive Jimmy home after the games.
  18. I know that he went to IU, but I thought he was from Pittsburgh. I could be wrong here though.
  19. I think the love stems from the fact that he is very much fan oriented. He is extremely visible and makes it a point to appease the fans in as much as an owner of a sports team (i.e. business) can.
  20. Sullivan is on today's panel for Chicago Tribune Live on CSN. He is on there along with Sox beat writer Mark Gonzalez. They are comparing both the Cubs and Sox. I guess they're just adding insult to injury for Cub fans.
  21. Wasn't Cabrera the one who once laughingly mocked Moises' hissy fit from an unspeakable game? That said, don't get me wrong -- even if he's a smartass I'd LOVE to see him in a Cubs uni next year ... Fla *owes* us a good trade fer cryin out loud  I don't know any particular instances, but it is said that Cabrera can be extremely difficult to manage. So going in some were curious how Girardi a first year manager would handle him. Granted I don't think anyone doubted Girardi's ability to handle that situation. If Cabrera ended up in a Cub uniform I think Dusty better be gone. I think a regimented/general like manager is better for a Cabrera type player than the player friendly type manager.
  22. if for no other reason, imagine the rants he'd be having by September. No, he doesn't want to come back to Chicago. He is enjoying his time as bench coach of the Orioles. He likes it because he enjoys watching Corey Patterson and his current .306 batting average.
  23. Jim Essian.....is he even in baseball at any level?
