  1. i hate late starts but sure enough ill be listening like i always do
  2. I'm not comparing them to the Cubs. With that pitching staff (especially the pen), Cincinnati has perhaps the biggest "bottom falling out" potential of any team who's bottom hasn't already fallen out. I know we keep saying their pitching stinks, but it hasn't happened yet. Does anyone have pitching stats for current Cubs and Reds? You mean, like this? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/pitching?team=chc http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/pitching?team=cin The cubs actually have a lower team ERA than the reds
  3. Please get rid of "K" Mabry while you are at it please. He was sent by the cards to destory the cubs, even Corey didnt swing at every pitch like Mabry does
  4. I listen to the pre game show most every game and Ron Santo himself said durning a game that there is NO word on Prior, They have heard nothing about it. He is susposed to join the team today so we will probably hearing something tonight however
  5. he couldnt have been suffering for 25 years, KC won it all in 1985
  6. i wonder what his excuse was on monday at wrigley, When it comes down to it the main problem is Dusty. Its easy to be a leader when the times are good (2003) not so much when the times are bad (every year since). He hasant kept these players motivated, we should be able to score runs but thats not Dustys way. hell look at the white soxs last year, very very little power and sub .300 avg for most if not all players yet they have a nice ring on their hand. it dosent help any that more and more everyday im thinking Rothschild is a moron and is nowhere near the caliber pitching coach that a team with names like Prior, Zambrano, Guzman, Hill, need
  7. At 31 and in a new league (which typically is a disadvantage for a hitter), he's not likely to perform to career norms anyway. Last 3 years average of hitting against lefties for Jones is .238 .295 .363 .658. This is not counting 2006. League BA OBP SLG OPS for Wrigley last year: 270 .340 .430 .770. Jone's value while facing lefties would be below replacement player value. I understand why your front office wont platoon him. Its the same thing we have with Encarnacion. His OPS the last three years averaged is 754. The league average for Busch last year was 773 and before that 769. He's basically a below average player, and being a corner OFer makes it worse. We both have some pretty lame options in the outfield that wont be benched or platooned because of politics. Jones's BA has gone like this since 2003 2003 .304 2004 .254 2005 .249 2006 .239 (so far) sure his power numbers stayed the same but its not like he was hitting 45 home runs and has 100+ RBI's
  8. this team is about as bad as ive seen it, no motivation whatsoever. It is like a broken record of last year but without a guy hitting .450. Cubs get swept tonight. so much for everyone saying if they just could keep their head above water, too bad the storm is getting worse and the water is rising. Cy Young, oops read that wrong, Juan Cruz will give up one run, a home run by Aram on 4 hits and 1 walk in a Complete game.
  9. not when you have the pitcher coming to bat everytime
  10. unspectacular isint the word at least i can say i was there the last time the cubs won
  11. he wasant goign to be perfect everytime, but then again we havent gotten a RBI by a hit since monday night
  12. we didnt even have to hit the ball to score the run today we have had a base runner EVERY inning
  13. too bad whenever jones gets on base, he gets doubled off Well, he came up through the Twins system, and they teach guys how to play the game the right way. yep, thats why they have won a whole lot in the past 15 years Yep just 4 division title and a WS title. the world series was back in 91, the AL central wasant that great to begin with, its not like they had such great teams or they would have more WS rings
  14. Thom Brenneman is just upset that chip caray and Pat Hughes are better announcers than he is and thats why he didnt get the job what kinda name is thom anyway, its like a [expletive] version of tom
  15. they lost 33-1 in a 3 game series last weekend to the Tigers....that was pretty impressive. thats worse than what the cubs are pulling right now
  16. too bad whenever jones gets on base, he gets doubled off Well, he came up through the Twins system, and they teach guys how to play the game the right way. yep, thats why they have won a whole lot in the past 15 years
  17. too bad whenever jones gets on base, he gets doubled off
  18. untill he goes on a hot streak, hits 400+ for a month and everyone will forget this. id much rather have Aram playing 3rd than Perez
  19. You know who is getting paid as much as Todd Walker this year? Neifi Perez. And he'll be back next year. Walker won't be. how is this ridiculosity possible? In what Alternate Universe are us Cubs fan being forced to live? How he loves being a dusty boy
  20. we should try bringing up Pie and seeing what he can do, maybe hit lead off so pierre can bunt him over, god knows thats the only thing hes good at
  21. Or else he needs to bat cleanup - he's hitting better than Aram. Aram will end up hitting over .300, Jones wont I sure hope so but I have yet to see anything that gives me a lot of confidence that will happen. Last year? Or the Year before that? Or the year before that? Or 2 years before that? Ok my mistake I haven't seen anything this year. on may 1 of last year he was hitting .238, by the end of may he was at .267 and by the end of june he was over 300
