They won't put hm on the 40 man until he gets the call. that doesn't refute his point. do you really think they'll fill Sweeney's spot with someone else for the next 9 days? It's not that simple. I'm still not entirely clear on it, but all sides involved seem to be acting as if there's either a CBA provision or a labor law that forbids teams from acting this way for the reasons the Cubs are doing it. It may be a rule that has never been enforced, but it sure seems to be there. i'm unconvinced. it sure looks like 100% posturing to me, even if they do choose to invoke some procedural steps. with seemingly everyone else chiming in, i think the mlbpa felt like they needed to go ham here
