  1. Nice. I can't wait till "Scotty Pods" comes back and Guillen throws his awesome OBP into the top spot of the lineup and runs that team into the ground.
  2. WGN should topple WCIU, they're cutting in on their market of cheap syndicated crap.
  3. I just lost my respect for DeRosa. No DH! Yeah, not cool Derosa. Not cool at all.
  4. Didn't suck yesterday.
  5. I'll be listening on the radio as the Cubs won't be on WGN until Friday, which kinda stinks, but the broadcast schedule is backloaded, so I'll get a lot of *hopefully* meaningful games in July and August. Hopefully.
  6. Ah yes, vote early and vote often. I'm not much of a fan of the all-star game, but I don't see how Lee doesn't make it this year.
  7. Let's win this division in May. sbuc og
  8. Wow. Just checked that out and yeah, a seatbelt wouldn't have mattered.
  9. what? why wasn't the coroner's office / the police the party to do this? I think it shows an incredible amount of class and dignity on the part of Tony LaRussa. What a tragedy. My thoughts are out to Josh Hancock's family, friends, teammates, and the entire St. Louis Cardinals organization.
  10. They're hitting it pretty far today, just because some those hits are just short, doesn't mean that they're not hitting with a large amount of power. They are driving the ball.
  11. Holy crap that was awesome. I am the happiest man in the universe.
  12. That was pretty awesome.
  13. gross. Pie means foot in spanish. You like toe jam? Does 'Felix' mean 'fleet of'? Cause that would be awesome.
  14. The projection that Pie is [expletive] awesome and should start in center field for the next 10 years. :D Let me rephrase slightly, to be more specific: By what projection is Pie estimated to be better than Jones over the couse of this season? Haha, well I can't speak for anyone else, but.. The projection of my wild imagination. I personally don't think Pie will put up as good offensive power numbers (rbi, slg) than Jones this season, but I think it's reasonable to assume that his development as a major league hitter is important enough to keep him in the line-up, all while making our outfield defense noticeably better. I personally think that having a Soriano, Pie, Jones outfield, until the day Jones is traded, is our best defensive and offensive option, with Murton taking the spot when there is a lefty pitching in opposition. While I love Matt Murton, I think his greatest value to the team right now might in fact, be his trade value. He could bring us some pretty decent pitching. But it has to be the right deal. I say this because I believe at the end of the season, we're going to look back and wish we had a more solid bullpen to go with this offense. Just my opinion though.

  16. Don't look at me. If I had any baseball intelligence, I'd be posting about the Pens here. I root for a team that hans had a winning record in 14 seasons. you're on a message board of a team that hasn't won a championship in 100 years. Now that is stupid. 98 1/2
  17. +1 Sammy = Awesome
  18. Defensive replacements aren't necessary in every single game. If you can afford it, it doesn't hurt, but doing things like removing Barrett in the 8th inning of every game is the definition of insanity. This may be off topic, but is anyone else a little puzzled about how Lou has handled our bench in several of our closer games this season? In both of our extra innings games, it seemed that Lou burned through our bench a little too fast, leaving nobody to pinch hit (besides marquis) in crucial spots later on. I understand that Soriano was out and our bench was a little thin, but having no one on your bench in two different spots was interesting to me. If by burn through the bench you meant use the players available to him to win the game as soon as possible.
  19. It's not necessarily Marxism that I would take issue with. I don't need to have an issue with a political philosophy to have an issue with a person who subscribes to it. Castro is one of those people, not Sulley as it may have appeared in the post. I've pretty much heard all the justifications as to the things Castro does, but at the end of the day, left or right, any political system that actively suppresses political dissension via imprisonment or 'disappearances', is not one worth supporting. True, many people worship Castro, it's called the cult of personality, and it existed with Stalin, and perhaps, most men in power. However, there's something fundamentally wrong with a place when thousands of people resort to placing themselves on makeshift rafts and brave starvation, exposure, and drowning just to have the chance to live somewhere, anywhere else. It might have been a cheapshot and for that I apologize, however, I still stand by my statement that Castro is a murderer. See: Che Guevara, Personal Assassin. So what were we saying about Derek Lee?
