3rd inning that we've had 2 on with less than 2 outs....and there've only been 4 innings. We're hitting this guy, we're just not scoring.

Let's say the Cubs lose this game (which is far from over). That leaves us 2.5 back with about 49 games left to play. We play 3 directly against the Brewers. Our schedule is easy. We get Ramirez back in our next game. We made up 8.5 games in a month. I think we can make up 2.5 games in more time than that. Optimism is a beautiful thing.

I think this is exactly why Lou is doing this... if the highest leverage situation happens to be in the 9th, he doesn't want to have Dempster be the guy automatically. I don't remember who said it, but I was watching something about the cubs on tv and it was said that Lou wants to give Dempster a chance to pitch more often, because he needs to pitch often to be effective and a closer isn't able to pitch consistently.
