  1. I know Fuku is getting his hits and all, but seems like he's K'ing more frequently lately. Maybe that's a faulty perception...just seems that way.
  2. Yes...infinity if it was the first appearance of the year. Yesterday Marmol allowed 4 ER and got 0 innings to add, so his ERA shot up. It happens.
  3. It might slow down individual loading of pages that happen to have those linked for some people, but the nsbb server doesn't care. The videos wouldn't be hosted here...they'd be hosted elsewhere and linked here.
  4. Giving up on Hill would be harder for me than giving up on Pie, but ya gotta do it this year.
  5. And metallic currency.
  6. OMG are you trying to talk golf in this clearly Soccer-themed thread???? Oh wait. ;)
  7. Yeah, but you aren't part of the group of "teachers" that pushed hard to reach for him in the draft. I would be surprised if they didn't give Wolfe a spot this year. Oh to hell with it just snap the ball directly to Hester. All problems solved  They did once yesterday at OTA's. The players had all swapped jerseys, and Grossman and Hester swapped...so for one play, Hester played QB.
  8. That was Lovie, not Angelo. And I still expect to see Kevin Jones signed at some point. I don't know. It would be nice to have more depth at RB. However, if the Bears are going to be good in 2008, it's going to be because the line improves, QB is steady and the defense gets strong again. It's not going to be because they signed Kevin Jones. I think Forte & Co can be good if the line is good and QB is steady. I don't think it will matter who is at RB if the line struggles and QB stays a mess. I agree with you, except that I think we're very weak at RB after Forte. I have no faith that AP or Wolfe would be a good every down back if something happened for Forte. Jones to me is just insurance. But yes...the line being good will go a long way to solving a lot of offensive problems.
  9. You watch a ton more soccer than me, clearly, so I'm going to take your word on this that it happens infrequently. But if that's the case, why is the perception so prevalent that it happens all the time?

  11. Never watched a soccer match, eh? The irony of a baseball fan thinking soccer is slow is hilarious. Oh yeah, standing around is way faster than dudes running, passing, kicking, heading and colliding for two chunks of 45 continuous minutes. Yeah, I'm not a soccer "fan" by any stretch, but I manage to watch at World Cup or Olympic time...and I can't say that it's boring. Not my cup of tea, but not boring. And if you want flopping, try the NBA. Whining, try arguing balls and strikes? I enjoy a soccer match now and again, but it clearly wins the flopping and whining debate. I didn't mean that it had any more or less. I just meant that the complaint was something that is occurring in other sports as well, yet they continue to be watched.

  13. Only a 14th major. Ho hum. That'd be like saying Jordan shouldn't have played with the flu...he only got a 5th championship out of it...it's not like it was something he hadn't done before or couldn't do again. And if he'd lost it was all for nothing. I know it's not the same, given that Tiger is going to be out for a while, but this was the freaking US Open. Even among majors, the Masters and US Open are THE tournaments. There's no guarantee he'd win, but there's no guarantee that something won't happen with the surgery that he wouldn't be able to play again either. This is like TO playing in the Super Bowl to me. Yeah, it's risky, but it's the pinnacle of your sport, and if you can get yourself out there, win or lose, you do it.
  14. What a fantastic tournament.
  15. The thing with Tiger though is that while some of these huge shots may be somewhat lucky, he's so amazing at being able to read the speed and slope and break of a green. When he makes those putts, he knows exactly what he's doing. Sure, the ball could bounce a bit on the green, or it could hit some debris and kick off target a few inches, but when Tiger lines himself up for a big putt, if he reads it properly, as he usually does, and it doesn't hit something or get off line, he knows he's going to drain it because he's so good at visualizing it, and he's so ahead of the other players in that regard. Like that eagle on 18. The announcers had no idea why he was set up that way. One of the announcers said "hes aimed a bit left, dont you think?" and the other followed up with "way left." Then, of course, he sunk it. He just sees things out there that no one else can. Now that chip in, that was complete luck and he even admitted it while being interviewed later. But hey, when you're that good you get the shooter's bounce. right. i think the reason he put his head down and just kinda smiled at 17 was because he knew how lucky he'd gotten. the putt at 13 had a great line, but was going well long if the line was off, and the chip on 17 might've been hit a little more than he wanted. but golf is very much a game that's base on "feel", and it's impressive that he might win the whole thing after taking several weeks away because of the knee surgery. i agree. if he wins this thing, I think it'll be a while before we see him again. he doesn't look great out there, and at times he looks like hes in so much pain that it makes me want to cringe. i think he'll probably take the next month off until the open championship. Yeah...he'll rest after this...and should.
  16. No, he isn't. I think the better comparison would be to Shaq. THE most dominant player in the game, but with a huge hole in his game. Shaq's was the free throw line, Tiger's is apparently the tee box. Very erratic (seriously, no way he's hit 50% of his fairways), but still the best player out there... by a large margin. Tiger is the personification of the old saying "drive for show, putt for dough." But, my Lord, if he ever puts together a tourney where he hits 80% of his fairways, he laps the field again. Tiger has the titles that go along with the play though...so he's much more MJ than Shaq in that way. And MJ and Tiger are all skill...Shaq was just born into a freakishly huge body...he doesn't do much that another person with the same body shape couldn't do. Tiger and MJ can/could both do things that people with the same body type couldn't do. And Tiger can do things from the tee box that Shaq can't do from the free throw line. Tiger misses fairways, sure. But he makes up for the inaccuracy with distance. He can get to par 5 greens in 2 that nobody else in the field can.
  17. Thanks for that...I was watching Hulk when all of that was going on...my bad. I did see Mickelson's 9 though...it was like watching Tin Cup.
  18. Good point. You may have to hunt for the link a little, Raw.
  19. I think you "subscribed" to that forum. Go to that forum, and just above the posts, there should be an "unsubscribe forum" link. You can also subscribe/unsubscribe from individual topics.
  20. So Darle was the cop in Die Hard? Don't you mean "the father in family matters"? Did the father in Family Matters make twinkie references like the cop in Die Hard? I don't think so.
  21. Shocking that the NY Times would think the Yankees have the greatest need.
  22. Were you beat up or ignored on this board as much as I have been, you would understand. And when I defend myself, I get a hand slap from the admin. Tends to be why I disppear for long periods of time. So you're simultaneously beat up and ignored? Truth is that anyone that is an "insider" posting on a message board is going to get grief. The anonymous nature of the internet is such that a lot of people are cynical of that, and I understand that sentiment. There was quite the chuckle out of the insiders at the Orioles Hangout this offseason. Were they actual insiders? Maybe...that situation was screwed up enough though, that it made them look completely ridculous, and they got shredded much more than you or I ever will. Your posting here is appreciated...you definitely have a unique point of view to present. But the nature of the message board is such that you're going to get criticism based on your "insider" nature and the defensive attitude that you present (rightly or wrongly). If anyone directly insults you the mods will be right there to take care of it (though you may have to point it out to us, we don't see every post). But if you attack someone, then yeah, we're going to let you know about it too. I am 100% sure it has nothing to do with you being female. Most posters probably don't even know that about you.
  23. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to be very viable info...I think Edmonds is here for the long haul at this point. http://origin.denverpost.com/rockies/ci_9570216
  24. Hasn't pitched in 10 days now. Is there a minor injury that they're covering? Why would Lou let a guy stagnate on the bench this long? Don't you have to use him in an unimportant situation now to let him get the rust off?
