  1. Come on now. We're Cubs fans. Lets be honest, we have a LOT of go-to laments.
  2. If the Cubs have zero talent that Oakland likes, how would we go about getting Blanton?
  3. the cubs will end up signing with milwaukee? that'd be crazy. Combining the two teams into one uber-team would be freaking awesome. I am the world's most GIANT baseball team.
  4. Didn't like Big Lebowski, and I won't apologize for it.
  5. He did it better (for one night) then A-Ram. Not since Santo has there been a 2 HR 6 RBI night by a Cubs 3rd basemen. Correct me if I am wrong. Aramis had a 2 HR 6 RBI game last year, a 2 HR 7 RBI game in 2006. HA that is what I get for listening to ESPN. They said no Cubs 3rd basemen had done it since Santo. Niceee....... Perhaps they meant "white" third baseman? I'm pretty sure what ESPN (and Len) said was that no Cubs 3rd baseman has had a 2 hr game where one was a GS in SF since Santo.

Does the R7 have the 2 moveable weights? That's the one I got and I have it draw weighted right now, and I think I'm in love. I still slice when my swing gets lazy, but I do a much better job of getting wrists turned over during my swing and squaring up the club face with it. Putter and fairway woods are next summer for me.
  7. That's the assumption I believe. But until the lineup is out later, can't say for sure.
  8. My golf game sure does, but there's another thread for that discussion...
  9. Well if he was aiming at your feet, we might has isolated what Ankiel's problem was...heh. I think it likely started as mechanical, and developed into something mental as well. I'd guess that it's most difficult to resolve when it's both like that too. Where does one begin and the other end? And it's difficult to keep your head out of it when you're constantly thinking about fixing mechanics.
  10. So don't change anything from when he was going good then?
  11. He's pretending that my post in this thread was in any way serious. I think it was pretty clear I was joking, but meh.
  12. The Cubs didn't stand pat in 03. Kenny Lofton, Aramis Ramirez, and Randall Simon were all added for the stretch run. And Jose Hernandez! Well...until he was included in the Ramirez/Lofton deal...heh.
  13. I wasn't under the impression that he was ever really that wild, so I'm not sure how big of a difference this is. i wasn't either. but the word "ankiel" was getting thrown around quite a bit in this thread and others. I'm pretty sure the word "ankiel" was being thrown around because he seems to have magically and almost instantly lost his high level of pitching skill. He didn't lose it as "glamorously" as Ankiel did, and I doubt his career is on the same future path, but there's still a mental element that has apparently impacted both pitchers. I don't think it's an unfair comparison from that POV.
  14. I figured this was at least worth bringing up for discussion. But the article in the Rocky Mountain News really just lists the Cubs as part of a list of teams that may be interested...I don't see any hard info: http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/jul/02/krieger-trades-offing-capitulating-rockies/
  15. maybe. what do you mean by "as talked about"? generally speaking, this is one of the few times i would be more inclined to say yes, i'd do it (depending on what you're talking about). the Cubs have a closing window and are quite possibly a front-line starter away from being head and shoulders above everyone else. I meant the Cedeno, Gallagher, 2 top prospects suggestion by Levine.
  16. Well now I just don't know what to think. If he's doing well, then how about putting him somewhere where the umps are able to call balls and strikes?
  17. Because in a sport like baseball when a guy has all the physical tools to succeed and isn't its something with his brain. Marmol's stuff is just as nasty as before so it's not like he just lost it. It would be like LeBron struggling next year. It wouldn't be because he all of sudden lost all his athletic ability. Except that Marmol hasn't struggled for the whole season. He's in a bad stretch. Look at Kerry Wood. He had a bad stretch, but came out of it. Lebron is a bad example, as he plays the entire game every night. Relief pitching doesn't translate very well to basketball.
  18. Assume for a second that we know for a fact that we CANNOT re-sign CC. Assume that he is ASSURED to sign with someone else after the season. Would everyone still do this deal as talked about?

Yeah...I had been driving really well on Tuesday, so I tried to yank one on a par 4, and naturally I sliced it HUGE into the other fairway, but I was lucky and it was sitting clear up on a hill. I used a 5 hybrid and just hit it clean back onto my own green. Then I 3 putted for bogey.
  20. They ought just call it "smashed junk" and be done with it.
  21. Maybe it's just me, but "testicular fracture" sounds more painful than the "intrascrotal hematoma" that Barrett had. Neither sounds pleasant, but the thought of fracturing a testicle makes me want to wear a protective cup 24/7. I thought he had "testicular torsion"...none of these sound fun. I believe Pie had the "testicular torsion." I'm pretty sure Barrett had the "instrascrotal hematoma." You're right though...none of these sound fun. Gotcha...I think you're right.

  23. It was to the point though that you almost can't rebuild the O-line in one offseason without spending overly heavy in that one area. You're right, it should have started 2 years ago, and now they're just starting it, so they're about 2 years behind.
  24. It's tough to put this on the rookie, but Matt Forte is really going to decide a lot as far as what this offense can do. If the run game is a threat, the rest of it could all fall into place...somewhat. Right concept, wrong rookie. The season is going to depend most heavily on what improvements to the line come from Williams starting on the left and moving Tait to the right. Lets agree that both Williams and Forte need to step up. :)
  25. Mixing and matching adjectives is fun What? "Collapse" is a noun. Yes. You should probably look up "prolific" in the dictionary. It makes absolutely no sense to describe a collapse as prolific. You're right here. I meant to use "prodigious" and I ended up getting the words mixed up. Haven't had my coffee yet this morning. I will go back and edit the post, as I want this particular Internet forum to uphold the highest standards of grammar and usage. P.S. Regardless, you're kind of an [expletive]. And yet you're the one with the personal attack. Stop it.
