  1. I've only caught bits and pieces of the games over the last couple of days, but man the stands have looked really empty.
  2. I have a really hard time seeing Knox as a #2. He put up 50+ catches and 900 yards in his 2nd year, as a 5th round pick, out of Abilene Christian....first as a starter. His numbers last year were pretty much in-line with what middle of the pack #2 WRs put up. Of course, he was the #1 target last year, so that's not good. But I think he'd be extremely effective with a guy on the other side of him who is good enough to take some of the coverage away from him and put him in 1-on-1's with #2 CBs. I hope they only ever throw to him when he has seperation though.
  3. Crappy GM? Wow, get a clue. Awesome first post.
  4. There were also site issues for a while that prevented new registrations. Those have been resolved, but people aren't exactly beating down the door to find a Cubs discussion board at the moment.
  5. Technically the move still has to be approved by the Board of Governors, right?
  6. Mike Martz on Earl Bennett http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=7882 Is this where the Bears start trying to convince the fans that the WR corps that they have is good enough?
  7. Sure, but "we may be bad, but we aren't the worst" argument isn't a great one.
  8. They mad. http://blogs.ajc.com/jeff-schultz-blog/2011/05/31/thrashers-atlanta-were-never-given-a-chance/
  9. Thanks? Somehow I missed the entire last page of the thread. I'll blame it on holiday weekend hangover.
  10. I don't do photoshops. I just steal other people's photoshops.

  13. I wasn't aware that actually going after Howard was even a remote possibility for this team. It's a pipe dream. Extremely unlikely, but impossible to know until a new CBA is agreed on.
  14. Thankfully we have advanced stats that say otherwise. But, LeBron's close. I admit I don't know a lot about advanced basketball stats, but do they take into account the ways that the league has changed since Jordan played? IE: Rule changes, expansion, dominant teams in the West, etc? What expansion since Jordan played? It measures on pace of the game versus peers. It cannot account properly for defense though. But, in this case, both were very good defenders. In my head the Raptors and Grizzlies were since his retirement. My bad. Does defensive 3 secs counterbalance the removal of illegal defense?

  16. I always liked Baseball 2020 for my futuristic baseball needs.
  17. I haven't watched the play, so I'm not talking about this specific situation... I'm ok with the collision at the plate when the runner gets there at the same time as the runner, if the catcher has chosen to get in the way of the runner when he doesn't have the ball yet. But I don't think there's a point to it when the catcher has the ball clearly in advance. Have a rule that the ump can call the runner out if the catcher has the ball and is waiting for the runner to arrive. It'd be an ump's judgement situation, but he could call the out in advance in order to spare the collision.
  18. Asik has a fractured left fibula.
  19. 1B Blake DeWitt 2B Darwin Barney SS Augie Ojeda 3B Ryan Freel RF Reed Johnson CF Tony Campana LF Sam Fuld C Koyie Hill Managaer: Eric Byrnes I started to do this, and got depressed after I filled 3 spots of the lineup.
  20. Well we'd have beaten the Celts....
  21. I thought I heard that as I got out of the shower, but couldn't believe it was true. And for that money?? And Kobe said he was surprised and that he wasn't consulted.
  22. Nope. You always end up hating the team you're playing, imo. I don't remember the Bulls ever playing "likeable" teams in the Jordan years. Indy, NY, Pistons, Lakers, Blazers, Sonics, Jazz....man I hated every one of those teams at the time. Oddly enough I'm really fond of some of the players on those teams now, in retrospect. But I reviled them back then.
  23. That only happens about once every hour and a half though in a normal game. Not nearly enough for the attention span of most people. It's still the biggest draw. They don't show many stolen bases on Sportscenter.
  24. I don't have the numbers to support this, but wasn't baseball far more popular during the steroid era, when home run records were falling left and right? I understand that some people, like yourself and maybe some others on the board, would like that type of game, but that doesn't mean it's good for the game if it doesn't appeal to the casual fans.
  25. N&G is gonna have nightmares of lineups with 8 grinders.
