  1. Maybe not Garza alone, but there's a number of other guys (Garza included) that will want to be taken care of. Part of the reason the Bears had left that much extra room on the cap was to accomodate those extensions. Giving Briggs extra money was likely not part of that planning.
  2. Honestly, I have no idea. I don't know enough about Chris Spencer to know whether he's an upgrade/downgrade. It might be that he's the way the Bears wanna go. They do already have him signed.
  3. that's always fun. This board would be hilarious (with me being part of the hilarity) if that score is reversed. Part of it? You'd be the Commander in Chief of it!
  4. I read an article about this topic, maybe this one, earlier. These are the same people who insisted there was no way this team could function without bringing Kreutz back. Garza has no case for an extension. He's an old replacable piece. This is Garza's last year on his deal. You comfortable with Spencer in there? I mean...if you are, that's cool. I simply was pointing out that there's guys that have contracts expiring, and that if you do want to extend them, that is probably more important that tacking on extra money to a guy that has 3 years left.
  5. Brad Biggs making the case for Garza getting paid... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-0830-bears-chicago--20110830,0,3946924.story Idonije and Chris Harris are both gonna be line for new contracts.
  6. Cuts don't have to be till tomorrow, but some are coming out today. Bears cut Jake Laptad, the guy that was long snapping in place of Mannelly last night.
  7. Still gotta do other extensions. Forte first. Garza is one that is gonna need to get done too. Plus it sets a precedent for future players that aren't happy in the middle of their contract.
  8. Of course not. But every year there's surprises, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of those teams doesn't live up to the hype. I do wish we were playing Atl later in the season, when it was colder in Chicago.
  9. You realize that was pretty similar last year? Detroit @Dallas GB @NYG Now granted, Dallas ended up sucking, but that wasn't the perception going into the season.
  10. He has zero leverage.
  11. Briggs and Drew Rosenhaus officially request a trade from the Bears... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-spt-0902-lance-briggs-chicago-bears,0,1976638.story
  12. Nobody on ESPN has the Bears in the playoffs. 3 ppl have the Lions as a wild card and 4 people have the Cowboys in the playoffs (Schefter has them as division champs). http://espn.go.com/nfl/preview11/story/_/id/6885090/espn-experts-nfl-predictions-2011
  13. 10 team no PPR QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/WR/TE/K/Def QB- Shaub, Cutler RB- Foster, Gore, F. Jones, D Thomas WR- Jennings, Lloyd, S. Holmes, S Smith(car), Knox, Baldwin TE- J. Graham K- Kaeding Def- NYG Baldwin was my last pick, and I just grabbed someone to gamble on...
  14. Romo is #10 though, cuz he looked good in practice and preseason games....and for some reason gets a mulligan for 2010 being terrible?
  15. ESPN Mag Predictions: http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6910543/nfl-previewing-game-plans-every-nfc-team Bears and Lions both at 7-9.
  16. A really neat article from Jason Stark about how players are using technology to prepare for games. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/6908844/information-age-changing-way-game-played
  17. Good news. Peter King has the Bears 8-8, the Lions 10-6, and the Falcons winning the Super Bowl. Since King is always incredibly wrong, this can only be a good omen for the Bears.
  18. Stafford hurt his shoulder twice, and ended his rookie season on IR with knee issues. He has durability concerns.
  19. Are you high? Stafford has missed 19 games in his first 2 seasons. Bradford hasn't missed a game due to injury, and Brees has only missed 2 games since 2004. I mean, I get defending your QB...but come on. Stafford clearly has durability issues.
  20. Alex Brown released by NO. Wonder if the Bears would bring him in for DE depth?
