    I really hope people weren't trying to call him and get a quote out of him. This is one of the situations in life where you just leave a guy alone. Probably texted, but still. Def should leave the guy alone. Roy Williams sat out practice today. Status for Sunday uncertain.

    It says that they had 44 plays over 20 yds all of last season, and had 5 in this game. And yeah, it should be expected, and they said it's rare for a WR to produce highly in his first season, but with ATL giving up so many picks for him, they wanted to point out that he didn't help the Falcons be much more "explosive" on Sunday.

    Haha...yeah...most ranking have been pretty reasonable, though a few have overranked the the Chargers, imo. I've seen them as high as #3 in some rankings today. This looks pretty decent though.

    Haha...I linked to it a few posts up. my bad, i must have missed it in the "whine about Bill Simmons" morass not sure what you mean by 'begrudgingly', though. you've gotta understand predictions/prognostications are going to be completely different than subjective accounts of what actually happened Well first off, there is a lot of subjectivity in PFF's grading process. That's fine...I get what they're trying to do, and I appreciate that (even if I'm not fully buying it). But there's still subjective opinion in there. But I really just meant that PFF has been pretty down on the Bears offseason, and while they said nice things about the Bears, it felt more like they were saying "well they weren't completely awful".

Are you purposely being obtuse here, or do you really not understand the difference between causing fumbles and recovering fumbles? Fumble recovery percentage last year: http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/fumble-recovery-pct remember last year when the redskins fumbled like 8 times against us and recovered every single one of them? Well to be fair. Cutler's favorite target that day was on the other team too. That game was about more than fumbles.

    Ryan lost the one for a TD. Turner lost the one that Tillman punched out. Hester dropped a punt that he promptly picked up and advanced. Cutler dropped one as he rolled out and he fell on it. Hester dropped one that he fell on near the 25. There was no Falcons nearby for any of the last 3 I mentioned.

    Yesterday was the second time in Cutlers career that he wasn't credited with a rushing attempt. The other time was the NYG game last year where he got a concussion.

    BTW, 2 of the 5 sacks on Cutler are pretty bogus. One was where he fell on his own fumble, and the other was him scrambling toward the sideline in the last 2 min of the game and he slid behind the line of scrimmage.

    Lance Louis is in a walking boot and will likely be out this week at a minimum. Probably Edwin Williams or Chris Spencer filling in.

    That's Bill Barnwell. He is technically right that the Bears were fortunate to recover all 5 of the fumbles in the game and as a result force the Falcons offense to become one-dimensional. You mean like the way the Falcons were fortunate that Cutler's batted ball went directly into the hands of the Falcons defense, creating their one and only touchdown of the day? The defense created the fumbles in the first place. It's not surprising that the group who creates the fumble ends up recovering said fumble. I'll bet the recovery rate isn't a blanket 50/50 chance. The Bears defense played outstanding and set the stage for a victory. Excuses for why they won aren't necessary. Forcing fumbles isn't random, recovering them is. The chance for recovering each individual fumble isn't 50/50, but the chance of recovering any one fumble is pretty close to that. And the Bears aren't particularly adept at recovering fumbles (actually, they were way below 50% recovery last year). I need more than a flat percentage before I buy into all that. What's the forced fumble recovery rate? Unforced? What's the rate on a muffed punt/kickoff? I just not buying that all fumbles are created equal. Also, the percentage can be made up for in sheer opportunities. The Bears had the 2nd most number of "Opponent fumbles" last year. http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-fumbles-per-game
