  1. I gotta admit, I greatly enjoyed Ladd whiffing like three times in a row trying to shoot the puck and then ending up on his ass. As well as Wellwood's stumble over the blue line.
  2. oh, almost forgot mlpeel.
  3. How could you? Someone was jokingly suggesting we do another best poster tournament, but I think we should do a "best banned or departed posters tournament". We all know Bum would win it, but deciding who he plays in the final would be fun. Banned Bracket: Deucebaseman YanrSlatr CubbieBum Mizzou wrigley23 (is he still an active member?) ZZ Thorn reds44 Many many more...... Voluntarily left bracket: Jon DiamondJaxx 1/2 of VancetheCubsFan gooney's evil twin (I know) JC Chocolate Milk Meph sunnydoo frostwyrm (nominated solely for politics thread contributions)
  4. Boise State to the Big East? Whaaaaaaa? http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7097384/report-big-east-boise-state-broncos-need-persuading I've been all for BSU trying to get into a BCS conference, but that's pretty silly. Ya think?
  5. You need more praise for this. This was excellent. Changing the letters is a great touch.
  6. You're a page or two late on that.
  7. I don't see how Conte and Wright will be any worse than what we've seen out there.
  8. I think the guy hasn't been nearly as good as the hype that surrounded his return, and that was about as bad a game as you can have and still be employeed in the NFL. He was lost and incredibly slow. The suckiness of other safety options for the bears makes him look way better than he is.
  9. Reportedly being worked on today.
  10. No sir. I will not.
  11. There used to be a sticky with links to other teams bigger message boards... don't know what happened to it. Might be worth reviving if we're gonna get excited about the Cubs again. It's still in the FAQ forum.
  12. Best post ever. There's like 300 boner posts in this thread, and this is the one that got ya?
  13. I belive a few seasons' worth of the oldest threads got archived during one of the site crashes/rebuilds.
  14. Tribune says that Ben Cherington may be named Red Sox GM today.
  15. For me the closest thing is the Bears getting Cutler. Mark Prior But Prior didn't have a track record in the majors. Cutler was a young NFL QB with a few years under his belt. Theo is a young, highly touted GM with a couple WS wins under his belt. Prior wasn't the same...for me.
  16. For me the closest thing is the Bears getting Cutler.
  17. I just don't see the need on three theo threads when they are all basically the same thing. I thought NSBB was all about less threads. Just an observation that's all. Mods reserve the right to be inconsistent when it's fun.
  18. I wonder what Theo is actually doing this week. He can't really start work on the Cubs till the whole compensation thing is completed, and surely the Sox aren't allowing him access to their resources. Time to burn some sick days?
  19. I'm going to ask him for grittiness metrics, and you can't stop me.
  20. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KZxVxmfWsYo/SVVDKCAVl4I/AAAAAAAAEzY/KjiyDKWmyeA/s400/Buzz.jpg
  21. HA! A guide for Theo to adjust from Boston to Chcago. Some of those comparisons are excellent. Well, the White Sox and Bozo ones are good... :) http://mlb.sbnation.com/2011/10/13/2485998/theo-epstein-boston-chicago-field-guide
  22. I think it was that Boston Herald article this morning about how all the Red Sox players are bad human beings that was saying something about them complaining about too many night games on getaway day. Theo won't have that complaint to deal with here.
  23. He's absolutely right. Or at least he is about half the time. When the wind is blowing in, our high-powered HR guys do have a very hard time doing anything. Of course, if we didn't have those guys at all, we'd lose every game where the wind is blowing out at Wrigley. For the Cubs, the right answer is probably a mix. Other teams might be able to get away building their team more towards one side of the spectrum or the other. So the answer is to get good hitters. Yeah, it's funny how other teams don't have a hard time hitting/winning at Wrigley.
  24. Why? We certainly haven't missed out on anyone by waiting, and to the best of my knowledge Quade hasn't either. Just feels like we're letting him twist in the wind a bit. But I guess if Offman is right, there might be a reason for Quade still being around.
  25. I've never watched much MLB network since the Cubs have pretty much sucked since it started. Guess I'm gonna have to check that out.
