There's a number of people who are kinda silly about honor and legacy and all that, but it's hard for them to get worked up over 10/250 when all the talk had been anchored near 200 million thus far. Yeah, my Card fan friends are all "I can't believe he was all about the money". None of them is upset that the Cards didn't match. I cant believe they are saying that when the Cardinals essentially had him signed to one of the most team friendly deals in baseball history. That contract probably cost Albert $50 million, which is ironically the gap between the Cards offer and LAs. That's what I keep telling them. Albert had played at a discount for years. He's gotten them 2 WS titles. He'd given and given to STL. Now, it's "me time" for him. Hard to blame him. It's gonna be his last contract.
