  1. It's probably a technicality to make him available for interviews. Technically the Bears can keep him from interviewing for like 2 more weeks, per Brad Biggs this morn on the radio.
  2. QB coach Shane Day is gone too
  3. Rofl....Martz cited "philosophical differences" "I wanna pass every down!" "No." "I'm gone."
  4. Martz resigned... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-mike-martz-out-as-bears-offensive-coordinator-20120103,0,4029196.story
  5. You can use your amnesty at any time on a player that was under contract when the CBA was signed. So they could amnesty Boozer at any point, but they still have to pay out that money. It just doesn't count against the cap.
  6. I don't have the exact number, but I'm pretty sure he isn't 50+ games over 500 as bears GM The wins look right, but the losses are way off. I've counted 95-73. It's 95-81 if I added up the records correctly. Hes only off by 40 losses. No big deal Yeah, I forgot to add the losses from this season. I edited my post above, to show where he got his numbers.

  9. My money is that it has to do with Lovie/Martz vs Jerry/Caleb. This season ended when Caleb Hanie stepped on the field and Jerry pushed him on Martz, who did not want him at all. They will go with Lovie/Martz/Tice/Marinelli and have some internal guy be the vice president of player personel or some such thing. If it goes well, Lovie will have a chance to hire his "boss", if it doesn't, they will hire a new guy next year and clean house. I wonder if Angelo and Lovie were butting heads over Martz. Lovie and Martz saying they need OL and WR, and Angelo blaming Martz's scheme.
  10. Jerry had his "hits", for sure. But he missed big recently. He really screwed the pooch on the post-lockout free agency, didn't get any FA's for OL, and ended up with Roy Williams, Marion Barber, and a punter (full credit for Podlesh). He may have gotten Peppers two years ago, but he also spent a lot of money on Taylor and Manumaleuna. He spent like $3 million on Meriweather mid-season, he clearly misjudged Hanie's abilities as a backup, and I can't imagine that the whole Sam Hurd situation helped Angelo's cause any.
  11. So Phillips made this decision?
  12. Haha...after the failed trade during the draft, I'd guess that he might not love the Bears that much.
  13. That'd be a pretty pointless move.
  14. It'll be tough to go the "Cubs route" in the NFL with no minor leagues. I'm just excited because I hated Angelo's draft strategy. Specifically I'm talking about a guy who won't be motivated to WIN NOW in Urlacher/Peppers/Briggs potential last year of being good, and who may not be married to the idea of winning with Cutler. There's definitely people in football who don't like Jay. I hear ya. But we might also be able to get someone in here that knows how to draft offense. I understand both sides of it. I guess at this point I was ready for a change. Might be a case of "be careful what you wish for", but that's where I'm at.
  15. Really kinda throws the Forte situation into some chaos too.

  17. Yeah, I don't see how Lovie's going to stay with a new boss in charge. Why the hell not? The year after the Super Bowl is the only year he underachieved based on the talent of his roster. You could argue this year, but if Jay doesn't get hurt, they win 10 or 11 games. Why pay 2 coaches when Lovie is probably a top 10 or at least top 15 coach in the NFL? That would be dumb. Let Lovie hang on as long as Urlacher & the rest of the defense and then when it is time to rebuild the defense, think about it if he has another bad season. I'm not against the idea of Lovie. I think he's overachieved with some of the teams he's been given. But you would think a new GM would want his own guy in there, that's all.

  20. I know this will shock you guys, but I am not impressed. Beating the [expletive] out of terrible teams because Thibs plays Rose 40 minutes doesn't do anything for me. Point differential should mean something because an easy win shows your dominance more than a game you win by 1 in double OT. Point differential when it comes to the difference between a coasting 20 point win and a 40 point win should mean very little. Memphis isn't terrible (or at least, wasn't last year), and Rose played 26 min on Sunday. Just sayin. Granted, that's one game, and I'm too lazy to go look up the others. Just wanted to present the facts that are favorable to my position and ignore the rest.
  21. Just watched the 4th quarter because I just couldn't stay up for the whole game last night. But holy crap was that an amazing game by Rose. And man, the Clippers can't do much other than make really pretty dunks.
