  1. no Oh, sure enough. I guess I was thinking of Safeco.
  2. Plus Seattle has a retractable roof, right?
  3. Glad I gave up on that game after the first period.
  4. Looks like his arms were fully extended and absorbed the impact. That must have really [expletive] up his shoulders. im more worried about his right elbow, that could have been gruesome. He's out indefinitely with a torn ligament(s) in his left arm I mean, he had to do it or he'd be out with a broken face, but still....ouch.
  5. No, and Berstein specifically mentioned that they wouldn't use Eminent Domain.
  6. I don't think you realize how much of a draw Wrigley is. Compared to the temporary draw of a new stadium, increased seating, as well as what I previously mentioned, I don't get it. What don't you get? The temporary draw of a new stadium might last two seasons, the Wrigley draw works every season. Increased seating is not necessarily a good thing. The scarcity of seating at Wrigley is part of what makes it such an easy sell when the team is any good at all. It will also cost $1B or more to build the stadium. Plus, #PoorTomRicketts will still own Wrigley that he's still paying for...what's he to do with that? I'd love for the Cubs to move, but I definitely see the difficulty in doing so.

FWIW, Boers was on your side. He couldn't fathom that the fanbase wouldn't follow the Cubs. He thought there would be a business model that would work for them in another location, it just may not be the one that currently works in the Wrigleyville area.
  8. Start with a baseline of building a new "state of the art" stadium costing $1B and then dealing with selling off/devaluation of their Wrigleyville assets and I think it is quite easy to see how moving could be tough. Communities are willing to hand over the land, but they aren't going to build them the stadium. You also might have a baseline of support of as much as 500,000 tickets sold per season based only on the fact that it is Wrigley Field. Bernstein also mentioned about there being a large amount of disposable income in the urban area around Wrigley.
  9. The way I took it is PR cost related to the further delay of improvements to the park, and thereby the delay of the infusion of revenue associated with that.
  10. Per Bernstein these are all possibilities being discussed: Possibility #1: Litigation - not preferred, but Cubs feel they will ultimately prevail, but at a PR and financial cost Possibility #2: Buyout the rooftop contract Possibility #3: Buy all the rooftop buildings themselves - Bernstein claims this is actually a possibility.
  11. Bernstein is going to be talking about some "sourced" information he has about the rooftop situation. He's teasing it pretty hard. He did say that unless it's on the extreme down low, there's zero chance of the Cubs moving...that the Cubs have done all kinds of studies and have info about what Cubs fans want, and where they live, and where they're willing to travel to, etc and that because of that and the money involved, they won't be trying to move.
  12. He spent just as many years as a Cub as he did a Brave. But his biggest, most successful years came in Atlanta.
  13. Somebody please explain* to me how anybody could view the Cubs pursuit of Tanaka as anything resembling "puzzling". (*please don't actually explain, the entire concept is stupid and any explanation would be doubly so). Haugh has proven time and time again that when he took that "In The Wake Of The News" promotion, he took idiot pills as required by all that write that column.
  14. Haha, the Pro Bowlers were bored... http://deadspin.com/relive-the-excitement-of-the-pro-bowl-draft-1507316928 That said, I like the shirts... http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/t_ku-xlarge/19dfu4s3ywcnwjpg.jpg
  15. So Sherman was mic'd for the game...including his postgame interaction with Crabtree.
  16. I'm trying to figure out the bounce upon landing...did he have his arm out and bounce from that? Did he bounce off the defender? Either way someone should be hurt, right?
  17. http://persephonemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/indiana-jones-popcorn.gif
  18. So today would be a good day to announce a deal.
  19. i don't know if you're being serious, but agreed. just move to wherever you can get the best deal. would've been nice to renovate a have a real park, but it's not going to happen. time to do anything else. I was half joking. I don't love Rosemont, but I'm sick of this [expletive] and just want the Cubs to get out of this situation by whatever means necessary.
  20. Rosemont
  21. What'd they say?
  22. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/25113883-419/wrigley-field-deal-fell-apart-at-stormy-session-with-cubs-rooftop-owners.html
  23. Maybe he just really didn't want to bat.
  24. It may not come out till he passes his physical or whatever technicalities need to happen.
