  1. Not even nominated for one of the top NSBB memes. http://i.imgur.com/xCH4ODP.gif
  2. I'm excited every year, but yes I can hardly wait. The last several years have made me wonder if I was really a fan of the sport. I guess I am.
  3. bloops A whole lot of very football smart people were very, very wrong about this team this year.
  4. I think offensively, we need better coaching, and a fast WR option...too easy to sit on our big WR/TE's, especially when they're playing gimpy. Need someone to stretch the field. Defense obviously needs talent upgrades in addition to the coaching overhaul.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised if Emery was gone, and at this point I think that's what I'm rooting for, but I really think they might give him one more coaching hire. He's gonna get a high draft pick to play with too.
  6. Most excited I've been for ST in a long, long time.
  7. That article is light on the details now with the account deleted. Huh? The damning Tweets are all there. Gah, my work has twitter blocked, but usually it still shows a text version of the quotes...for some reason this time it didn't. EDIT: Ah, cuz the whole Storify thing was blocked...
  8. I think it's 80/20 he's gone. This is unprecedented embarrassment for the Bears. You said you were listening to B&B yesterday, right? I caught the tail end of something that made it sound like Boers was convinced Trestman was gone. Did he say that? B&B were convinced Trestman was gone after the Packers game too. I think he's gone, but I don't believe B&B know much more than we do.
  9. Ownership is gonna get involved. There were 10,000+ no shows last night.
  10. Nah, no way they keep Trestman. I think Emery is giving him the rope to hang himself here. I'm not 100% sure Emery survives.
  11. Which coordinator are you keeping? Tucker, Kromer and DeCamillis are all one the way out...they have to be. And then, why on earth would Trestman get to keep his job after all three coordinators are gone?
  12. Yeah...and I don't get the calls to bench Cutler either. I mean, even if you think he's the worst QB ever to grace the football field with his presence, why would you replace him?

  15. I don't even really wanna watch it on tv.
  16. Dates, shmates!
  17. God, that is so stupidly hot take-y from Haugh. Is that the kind of crap that leads to getting columnist jobs? At one point, I really liked Haugh, years ago. Then he got Morrisey's job when he left the Trib, and Haugh's decent into stupidity began. It's been gradual, but noticeable. It's culminated with him having "dumb-off" contest daily with David Kaplan.
  18. It seems like this has been the case for years, and years, and years now. When was the last time the East was better than the West? The 80's and 90's was basically the reverse of this situation. The 80's, yes...but not as much the 90's. Just looking at pure winning percentage, 1997 and 1998 were the only years that the East held a significant advantage. The East hasn't won more than 50.5% of games since 1998. But this year is ridiculous. http://www.sports-reference.com/blog/2013/12/historical-western-conference-vs-eastern-conference-disparity/

  20. Gotta say, I love Lester getting #34--hopefully it will help some of the false Kerry Wood hero worship from Cubs fans and hopefully ends any chance of it ever being retired for a guy whose on-field stats don't come close to earning that honor. Nothing against Woody, but those are just facts. scorching hot facts Cubs fans overrate Kerry Wood. Not sure what objective measure you can come up with, but I'm about 99% sure it's true. Look, the guy is responsible for 3 or 4 unbelievable moments and 3 or 4 outstanding seasons, but he in no way, shape, or form, deserves to have his number retired, but you'll find people arguing for it. They don't overrate him, they are just more sentimental towards him than they should be for a pitcher with his career numbers. And I understand why. 20K game, coming back to start Game 3 in 98, the multiple one hitters, the occasional big hit, the 03 playoffs which included a win that happened largely because of his pitching and 2 RBI double, winning a deciding game 5 with dominant pitching, and a game tying HR in Game 7 of the NLCS, his multiple returns from career altering injuries, his willingness to adapt to the pen, his love of Chicago and the Cubs organization, the fact that he's the only Cub since the 30's to play on 4 Cubs playoff teams, etc etc. And the 20K game was a few games into his rookie year...and with Zambrano being a crazy person, and Sosa's rep being ripped to shreds, Wood is a guy that fans can hold onto from that era.
  21. A production meeting at 5am? Most of these shows do production meetings before they go on the air so they can plan out guests/segments/etc. And since the show starts at 5am...

  23. Hi, I have a question for Jed... How awesome are Jon and Theo?? This is why I never understood why Jed left his GM job in SD to come to the Cubs. I'm not saying he doesn't have an important role in the Cubs FO, but in terms of how he's viewed by fans and media he's Theo's assistant. There are absolutely no questions you could ask Jed that you wouldn't ask Theo instead. Jed's there to be available for interviews in the event that Theo is busy.
  24. Meh, I'm disappointed. I expect more out of him.
