I'm starting to get nervous now. -
.666 career OPS, OPSing .642 this year. I don't know what is going on with their roster but it does seem like a pretty poor bat to put in such a premium offensive position Has never faced Arrieta, either.

I haven't spent time in a game thread in several years. ironically i will be spending almost no time in this game thread during the game I'll read it after the fact, and silently mock everyone's over the top reactions to every pitch.

Outside of August he's been damn good this season. When did I say he wasn't good? Well, saying he's not likely to be used outside of some crazy outlier of a game seems to be implying he's not bringing much value. I'm actually impressed that it took until today, and deadspin, to be the ones to bring it up. I've heard the local radio guys joking about waiting for those phone calls, and Laurence Holmes actually took one, and shot the guy down hard. So at least it seems that the local guys get it at this point.

Yeah, the Pirates were pretty apathetic about this game before Arrieta spoke up, I'm sure.

Are you getting broken links because of your work/school blocking sites? Like, for me, Sammy's new avatar is broken cuz it's from twitter, which is blocked for me at work. But I see it fine on my phone or at home.

Completely disagree. He's especially awful at football. This is the guy that got all outraged over Randy Moss pretending to moon the crowd. He completely messed up the call on the David Tyree catch. Ugh, he's just bad.

they start friday? i could've sworn i'd been hearing for weeks about how the hawks opener was going to be the same night as the NL wild card game They do start Wednesday. I think he was just saying that they play relatively close to him on Friday night. ahh going to be really interesting to see how that goes (obviously there's bias at play as I'm not a hockey fan as you all know ) i can't imagine being a cubs fan and going to that game...and there's obviously a ton of overlap in the fan bases. no way to know but i'd bet it'd be a higher concentration of sox fans than usual. I think the way I would justify it, if I'd already bought tickets to the Hawks opener, is that if the Cubs win, there'll be more playoffs to be seen. If the Cubs lose, I didn't wanna watch anyway.
