    Many posters continually stated that "the cupboard was bare" and that Hendry depleted the organization of talent deeply and completely, so maybe you ought to get on them for hyperbole. My point in posting on this topic is all of the hyperbole about Hendry left nothing and Theo magically waved his magic wand and produced Rizzo, Russell, etc. Ok, ignoring whether you're right or wrong.... Who the hell cares? Honestly? Why is this a thing?

    I think many people range between mildly and wildly optimistic about Soler because he has stretches where he looks like he's pretty much God's gift to baseball. Except that he never looks comfortable in the field. Or when the temperature dips below 60.

    I really don't lake for total hours of sleep generally, 7-8, but I just can't sleep in on the weekends anymore. 7am usually is about it. 8am is really sleeping in! And it's all my son's fault. He turns 9 in a few weeks, so it's not like I need to sleep lightly anymore, but somehow I've never managed to sleep in after he was born.

    Well, they're not. There's so much hand wringing and pissing and moaning about him that I'm pretty sure more of them than not would be happy if they got rid of him. What idiot runs a promising young arm like Macha into the ground, then recalls Marco Gonzales from Memphis before he's rehabbed his shoulder? Mozeliak better realize. And if not him, Bill DeWitt. I'm not gonna argue that Matheny isn't an idiot, but I don't think I'm gonna put the blame on him for callups. Funny that Ryne Sandberg working his way up through the system and failing spectacularly wasn't mentioned in the article.

    It's not a myth that playing full time catcher means less AB's over the course of a season. And if he's not going to be a full time catcher, then just drop the catcher thing altogether. Get better at one position, since he's arguably not good at any position right now.

    That was my argument. I mean, this series sucked, but the season and the 2 rounds before that were pretty awesome. Only 4 teams made it as far as the Cubs did this year. Of course, I'm sad that it's over, and I'm not at all happy with how it ended, but I just can't be that miserable. Disappointed, but not miserable.

    The NLCS is hard? How is it any more hard for the Cubs than any other team? It's a coin flip. I dunno, is it? You haven't compared the Cubs NLCS record to anyone elses here. You pointed at the Cubs record and said "it's bad". The Dodgers are 4-12 in their last 16 NLCS games.

    At this point I figured they were just waiting for the season to end before making any announcement.

    Thank you, Cubs, for making this season a whole helluva lot of fun. I was truly concerned that I was falling out of love with the sport, but it turned out that wasn't the case at all, I just was tired of losing. But even beyond the results, this team just made watching baseball enjoyable every day. It didn't end how we all wanted, but I don't think even the most optimistic of us pictured a 97 win season with an NLDS over the Cards, and a trip to the NLCS. This is going to be the longest baseball offseason in a very, very long time for me.

    I stopped following Sheehan a long time ago after it became apparent that all he really does is bitch about everything. Yeah, I had too. And then the other day, he got retweeted or quoted or something, and I couldn't remember why I wasn't following him. I unfollowed him again last night.
