  1. http://www.espn.com/mlb/playoffs2015/story/_/page/playoffs16_expertpredictions/espn-experts-make-their-predictions-mlb-playoffs 3 people have the Cubs losing the DS. 3 more people have the Cubs losing in the CS. Finally 10 more have them losing in the WS. so 18 have the Cubs winning the WS. 16 don't. EDIT: Jesse Rogers has the Rangers winning.

  3. If it's because "they're cursed so they'll lose", ok...valid thing to be annoyed by. If it's "because they're the hyped team" or "I don't wanna pick the best record team" or whatever, I can understand that.
  4. possibly, based solely on his performance on Angie Tribeca I was about to bitch about how hard that show is to catch up on because it wasn't available for streaming anywhere, but apparently it got added to Hulu back in May.
  5. they don't talk about baseball games? There's a game day forum that is private...so I guess maybe they do in there? But mostly it's "4chan shouts things that are somewhat Mets related".
  6. Hahaha, someone started a wildcard pregame thread on Metsrefugees and tons of ppl started getting on him cuz "we don't do that horsefeathers".... Quality board.
  7. Yeah, if they were saying something about the Cubs not being as good as their record or some crap like that, it would be far more offensive.
  8. Probably akin to explaining to a Card fan that Molina isn't HOF-worthy.
  9. I think the biggest problem with Sammy is the corked bat. Between that and his obvious size increase, it makes it SO much easier to believe that he was taking PED's.
  10. I love to play golf. I hate to pay for golf.
  11. You know, for weeks the baseball media has been talking about the GIants collapse, and how terribly they've played, then they play decent in the last week and now they're this scary underdog that nobody should want to play... Make up your mind.
  12. Post your own predictions, or prediction columns. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/gallery/mlb-baseball-playoffs-postseason-wild-card-predictions-preview-cubs-dodgers-red-sox-100316 Predicts that the Cubs will take 5 games to beat the Giants, with Lester doing his thing and winning game 5. Also that Heyward will be the hot hitter vs the Dodgers (ok sure). And the Cubs win the WS. Jayson Stark won't pick the Cubs...ever. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/17687223/who-win-world-series-not-think No doubt plenty more columns are forthcoming.
  13. So listening to this, it just occurred to me...Arrieta was the only no-hitter in the MLB this year. The last time there was 1 or less no-hitters during a season was 2006, when only Anibal Sanchez had one. Interestingly, from 2004-2006 there were only 2 no hitters. Sanchez's in 2006 and Randy Johnson's perfect game in 2004.
  14. Didn't go with the Spiegel theme song eh? :good:
  15. He actually sat out 4 of the last 5 games which is shameful IMO. He won it by 1 point over Murphy. Weiss made some remark about how if Murphy was playing then he'd let LaMahieu play as well LeMahieu had around 50 more plate appearances over Murphy, so meh. Who cares?
  16. I was thinking it was gonna be sad that the "best fans" account won't have much to tweet now, but haha dummy, of course they will, cuz they'll still say all kinds of dumb crap during the Cubs run.
  17. And they don't have Daniel Murphy.
  18. Cardinals not picking up Holliday's option for 2017. So naturally he comes off the DL and hits a pinch hit HR.
  19. I'm glad to see that Heyman got a LOT of blowback on TLR being a class act. Did he actually block NSBB?
  20. I mean it last happened over a decade ago. I'd say that makes it a novelty. I know, I just don't think its like some cool factoid or anything. It's just a way to call it an official game so the stats count but the records don't change. Irrelevant, obscure factoids are the coolest kinds of factoids. It's the reason Jayson Stark exists, for example.
  21. The protest would stem from the fact that the umpires didn't get the Reds 30 seconds to challenge the play. The people that timed it that say the refs gave the Reds anywhere from 21-28 second before walking off, and its obvious the Reds wanted to challenge since Price was seen chasing after the umpires. To me its a legit protest, but do the Reds really care enough to file one? I think they'd have better luck protesting the misapplication of the ground rule than they would with the murky challenge rules. But yeah, do the Reds care enough is the question. Apparently Walt Jocketty said that he's not sure what grounds they would have to file a protest.
  22. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/ken-rosenthals-2016-mlb-awards-093016 Bryant NL MVP Hendricks NL Cy (Lester 2nd) Maddon 2nd for MoY with Dave Roberts winning.
  23. http://www.hardballtimes.com/plato-the-nl-cy-young-race-and-kyle-hendricks-as-epistemological-problem/
  24. So, the Reds should be able to protest that game, right? If they wanted to? Because clearly it was a misapplied rule...not the challenge bit, but the ground rule?
