  1. I love that movie...I actually own the soundtrack...good music to read a Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum book too.
  2. I chose WTF, and although I wouldn't have chosen it, I would add one more category. You have "alternate animal names" but how about "primary animal names" Bucks, Bulls, Hornets, Bears, Cubs, Jaguars, Panthers Also I would argue that Industrial would actually go along with regional since they are regional industries. Fun poll though. :D

  4. Since I know your feelings on the QB situation, let me run this by you. Let's say that Grossman is healthy this weekend and that Lovie, despite a 6 game win streak and a nice game by Orton this past weekend, decides that Grossman shouldn't lose his starter status to injury and starts him. Now, just for the sake of arguement, lets say that Grossman has some bad games, with a couple of key interceptions and that we lose to both Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh. What then? Would you ride Grossman out win or lose and possibly let Minnesota catch us? Or do you go back to Orton and say "I know you weren't good enough 2 weeks ago, but now you are"...? Barring injury, and barring Orton just completely falling apart, I just don't see how Lovie starts Grossman this season. I don't see how you take the only Bears quarterback to start 10 games since what...'95 or so...a rookie no less...and say "Sorry...7-3 isn't good enough...we're gonna let the guy who's started 6 career games have the start ahead of you." I just don't see it. The most popular guy on any football team is the backup/injured QB.
  5. Maybe they will, but Florida isn't the type of team that can live with a Kerry Wood like contract situation, paying uber millions for an injured pitcher. Josh has never thrown 200 innings, his career high was the 179 from this year, which was also his best season. He's 2 years from free agency, but they might have decided to minimize their risk and get the best they could get now, before paying big arbitration money, and instead of risking he gets injured again this coming season and has less trade value. A team in dire financial straits has a greater need to spread the wealth around when it comes to player contracts. They could have afforded Beckett this season, but perhaps not the following season, and almost certainly not from 2008 on. And whenever you can get rid of that big committment to an underperforming player like Lowell, you do it. You're absolutely right. The Marlins have to play the offseason game a bit differently than other teams. And the 2 World Series titles seem to indicate they do a pretty good job at it. It took a few years after the initial Marlins fire sale, but they built back up a young base of cheap talent (Pudge not withstanding) and won it. I think they'll be making noise again before too long.
  6. From ESPN page 2.... Alan Grant Brian Murphy Scoop Jackson Mike Philbrick Joke team that will make the playoffs: St. Louis Chicago The Redskins Da Bears Looks like there's still some non-believers.
  7. For what it's worth, ESPN.com just says that they are CLOSE to a deal... They were CLOSE to getting A-Rod too... :)
  8. Well I think the question being a month old makes a bit of a difference...heh.
  9. The "sick and tired of Cubs.com" conference is really the stronger conference though. :P
  10. yeah, i'm sold on harris now, he's not just a great hitter but can play a little pass defense too. a steal in the 6th round. that play scared the heck out of me. I had already started my "oh no" scream when he flew in and knocked it away "OHHH NNNNNYYYYYESSSSSS!!!"
  11. There's been lots of discussion about this, but why mess with an unknown quantity? Grossman has started fewer NFL games than Orton now, and Orton is on a 6 game win streak with this team. You can't tell me for sure what kind of quarterback Grossman can be...no one can. We just don't know. Grossman should remain the #2 behind Orton as long as Orton is winning games. You know what you're going to get with Orton. The 5 INT game not withstanding, he's not going to LOSE you games. We just don't know that about Grossman yet. Let it be open competition in camp next season of course though. Yet, under Orton the offense has shown no vertical improvement, the running game has been great but, at some point the passing game is going to be counted for a win. I don't believe its capable of such a feat. Do you not think that the Bears passing game today showed improvement? Orton looked far more accurate, and if the recievers catch some of those drops, the game isn't as close as it was. Do you think with Grossman in there that Lovie is going to decide that this is a passing team? They're going to run the same safe short passes and let the running game be the main offense. It's a team philosophy.

  13. And you guys don't have an easy road left, either. At Tampa, at Pittsburgh, vs Atlanta still left. If you go 2-1 in those you'll get home field methinks. Well we beat the Ravens, and the Ravens beat the Steelers, so that means we automatically beat the Steelers right? No need to really even play the game...
  14. From the ESPN Primetime Live Chat:
  15. Reading the Charlotte.com Panthers message board, a lot of ppl are counting on being able to get their revenge against us in the playoffs. Not sure Jake would be too excited about that.
  16. If we can play the "if" game with Delhomme's passes, can we say that if Moose hadn't dropped those passes it would be 21-0?
  17. Need to get that pass rush going again.
  18. Jake is getting more time to throw.
  19. Man...dropped passes are killing us.
