  1. Sorry man...I thought it was good. :)
  2. There's a thread on this in transactions. viewtopic.php?t=31462 http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=31462
  3. I don't think that Kerry Wood and Steve Stone in the same clubhouse is a recipie for success. Good point. Still, it seems to me (mind you I'm often wrong) that Stone has a good mind for the game. Stone has always expressed an interest in being a GM more than a manager.

  5. Would they last year? How about 2004? Would they have pulled Prior in Game 6 in '03? The Baker "hate" is not from 30 games this season.
  6. Seriously, this is like talking about trading for Dunn. They should do it, they could do it, and it would be the smart move. But they won't do it. The difference with the Dunn thing is that the Reds would've had to cooperate, so it wasn't entirely in the Cubs control. This is.
  7. Well I can't see that happening. If Brenly was to come down out of the booth, they'd have to hire a new color guy. It doesn't make sense to bring him down just to send him back up. And a manager that has won the World Series is probably not gonna be an "interim" guy... He could be when no other team has shown any interest in him. Or he's not interested in managing again.

  9. How about Bob Brenly? I think both Johnson and Dierker would be better choices than Brenly. If we move Bob down, who replaces him in the booth? Bring Stone back. BTW, I think Brenly would be a fine choice, and a welcome change of pace from Dusty/Baylor. Dierker & Johnson would be good as well. I'd also take Valentine. I think the ultimate point is, there are managerial options available. There's no reason we should be sticking with Dusty Baker. I wish the guy well, but he's done a pretty poor job here, IMO. I'd like Valentine as well, though I'm pretty sure he's under contract in Japan if I'm not mistaken.
  10. How about Bob Brenly? I think both Johnson and Dierker would be better choices than Brenly. If we move Bob down, who replaces him in the booth? Honestly, that is a lot less relevent to me than who the manager is. I certainly wasn't saying I'd be against either Johnson or Dierker. Just was throwing out an option of a guy that's been around the Cubs for a year and 30 games or so now. The guys are familiar with him, and I think he'd straighten these guys out. I don't know if he'd be interested, but it's an option.
  11. How about Bob Brenly?
  12. As you said....that's this year. That doesn't absolve him from previous years. Dusty hasn't been a good manager. Dusty's supposed to be a master motivator. That's supposed to be his strength. Players were supposed to want to play hard for him. They were supposed to play above their heads for him. That's not happening.
  13. You guys need to stop getting my hopes up that Baker will get fired....*sigh*
  14. I'm hoping to be able to post pics and a video later today. :)
  15. This team is bad...Marshall deserves better. Should have a bigger lead.
  16. I blame Len...he mentioned it too much.
  17. Wow...didn't think Murton would get that.
  18. Anyone have Tribune connections? I'd like to see that pic on the front page. Headline: Cubs Make Adjustments.
  19. Unlucky Cedeno. He's looked good tonight. And of course Marshall has looked fantastic. And Barrett playing the role of comic relief...:)
  20. Not necessarily. You still have to have the stamina to keep pitching, or risk developing bad habits. It's not a matter of "switching" arms, it's a matter if he has the stamina in the legs to keep pumping. I don't know. Do you think Maddux only pitches to 80 pitches or so each game because his legs are tired, or because his arm is? That would probably be a really fun question to ask a pitcher the next time we have a chat going with a minor leaguer.
  21. Besides the obvious matchup advantages of an ambidextrous pitcher, wouldn't such a pitcher be able to go a lot longer into games? (assuming he's pitching well of course) When one arm gets tired, switch to the other.
  22. I'm just glad big Al is helping out my fantasy team with all those homeruns and rbi's! Keep it up Big Al! My fantasy team needs you! If only he could pitch, because my fantasy team needs pitchers! He's clearly no Ruth. no one is, but pujols is going to be up there with him at the pace he is going I was referring to the him pitching as well.
