I thought he signed Glendon before Glendon talked to any other teams. so he negotiated against himself for lee too? there was a market for rusch, he just didn't let him test it. Are you really comparing the free agent markets for Lee and Rusch? Are you implying they should have been handled similarly? Yes, Hendry locked up the MVP contender without letting him test the free agent market. So he should've done the same with the inconsistent, journeyman left hander?

Did you even read Jon's previous post about the towel throwing, or just deliberately ignore it? DLee has a broken wrist. He's unable to rehab until it heals. You have no idea where he'll be rehabbing when the time comes. Are there plenty of rookie batters for Wood to face at Wrigley, or does Arizona rookie league sound like a more appropriate place?

That's unnecessary. If you disagree with him, fine, tell him why you do. Don't resort to personal attacks please. goose/gander. I never understand why noone comes to other people's resque when he syas worse to them. If you have a problem with the mods, let Tim or 1908 know. Otherwise, no personal attacks.

As hilarious as people blaming him being too calm, or is it too immature? I always forget. What's so hilarious about thinking that guys overthrowing in early March, when they are not ready for big game situations, could have something to do with all the bad starts to the season for WBC pitchers? Where is there evidence of overthrowing? Evidence? Guys were going full bore in early March when they are normally throwing 2-3 innings in completely meaningless games. Zambrano was clearly dialing it up on those games we saw on TV. Several WBC pitchers are off to bad starts. Johan Santana 1-3 4.45 Brad Lidge 0-1 6.39 Jake Peavy 1-3 5.17 Freddy Garcia 4-1 5.86 All WBC pitchers. Good thing the White Sox can hit for Garcia.

I think just the opposite. Prior is in the future plans. thus, you take care that he will be around for the next couple/few years. Wood is only in the future plans if the Cubs pick up an enormous option year at tremendous risk. if Prior burns out by being rushed, the team loses 3 years of a potentially outstanding starter at a arbitration rates. if Wood burns out by being rushed, the team makes the right decision and declines the option. You know they can decline the option and still re-sign him right? The Cubs have invested a lot in Wood over the years, and may still think they can reap benefits from him. I think you're a little too sure of what you think will happen. of course I am aware of that. you ready to risk another season relying on him to help get the Cubs to the playoffs? even if he's fabulous when he comes back, I'm not ready to take that risk, for the same reasons I told everyone who wanted to sign AJB that they are insane. Neither you or I are the Cubs. Neither of us have any input. Your criticism of the Cubs handling of Wood is based of an assumption you're making about how the Cubs will handle Wood's contract situation. My point is that if Wood is re-signed, which is a possibility, no matter how vehement you are in your opposition to it, then rushing Wood back is not in the best interest of the Cubs.

Am I the only one who thinks he could be done for the season but Skiles and the Bulls don't want the Heat or the rest of our team to know that? I wouldn't be surprised, but I didn't see the injury.

I think all the hype about this TE class was ridiculously overblown, and the vast majority of them are going to be worthless in the NFL. I'm guessing only 2 or 3 stick in the league and do anything of value. And nobody knows who those 2 or 3 will be. I'll take a stab that Vernon Davis will be a very good TE. I don't know about great, but certainly very good. That said, the Bears didn't have a shot at him, so no need to stress over it. -
And it was the Cubs decision, not Wood's, for him to throw in the bullpen last year instead of having surgery. He could've been back by now if the Cubs had planned accordingly. But yeah, Wood's milking it...

re the bolded part above....no you don't. with Prior sure, but not with Wood. his contract expires at the end of the year. get him out there ASAP, get out of him what you can, decline the option. I'm all for painting the impression that the organization considers the best interest of the player, but not here. get him on the mound yesterday. if he blows out his arm again, that's his/his next team's problem. Unless they plan on keeping him. Then that's not a real smart plan.

Should help get Baker a new contract. Either he overcomes the injuries to help the Cubs to a successful playoff run, or he falls short due to "injuries beyond his control". Yay.

I thought the Bulls game was a night game last night...very upset that I missed it, but thrilled that it's this close!! That was in reference to Game 2, and I'm hoping they prove me wrong! :D

Man, we didn't even charge to get into our games at my high school. Of course, that would've been impossible considering the way it was laid out, but still, I remember going to districts and knowing it was a big deal cause people had to pay to see us. My parents have had the same season tickets since I was in fifth grade. As people next to us have moved or changed seats, my mom and dad have bought up the extras. We now have eight seats on the same row about even with the 40 yard line. These will come in handy in about four years when my nephew starts playing. Tell your parents they're getting ripped off. I've never paid to attend a HS game. In HS we had to pay for an "activity" pass if we wanted to get into sporting events for free. Otherwise there was a charge. Parents paid.
