  1. That would be a better protest. "Stay at home" day. You'd have to get a lot of publicity about it, and obviously not everyone would do it, but the visual of near empty, or even half empty stands would be pretty impressive.
  2. Should've grabbed Theo when he had the chance...
  3. Hey Fred, had a question yesterday that you're the perfect guy to answer, but of course you weren't here... When was the last time a Cubs team came back from 5 or more runs behind to win the game?
  4. I wonder if Bruce has received any similar treatment from either Andy or Jim?
  5. We'll trade him for Jeff Conine. We kept him all this time, kept him as "untouchable" he'll be in CF next year thank god. I can't wait to see what he does under Baker and Clines fine tutelage.
  6. it should be a disaster waiting to happen. I bet we get swept. I think you have a gambling problem. Your risk taking is crazy insane.
  7. Pierre is humble and says all the right things. He's a great PR guy.
  8. I can't wait to play the World Champion Chicago White Sox this weekend.
  9. Wow, they're taking it to the extreme. When people talk about slow guys who walk and hit homeruns being station to station baseball, they are wrong. This single slapping and sacrifices is what station to station baseball is. No team plays station to station baseball FASTER than we do.
  10. The difference of course is that Hundley was Lynch's mistake. JJ is all on Hendry.
  11. When was the last time the Cubs came back from a 5 run deficit? If only Fred was here. I wish the Cubs would show some balls and make a comeback. Everytime they get down early it seems they just go into a shell and give up. Hendry needs to find guys with FIRE! and INTENSITY! He needs guys with POWER! and OBP!
  12. When was the last time the Cubs came back from a 5 run deficit? If only Fred was here. I wish the Cubs would show some balls and make a comeback. Everytime they get down early it seems they just go into a shell and give up. This lineup certainly isn't going to help, though. That was my point with the question though. This lineup isn't built for comebacks. It's built for close one or two run ballgames.
  13. When was the last time the Cubs came back from a 5 run deficit? If only Fred was here. Is he at the game? Call Wrigley and have him paged. He was...he's probably to drunk to recognize his own name now though. And somehow I doubt the Wrigley PA announcer is going to take me seriously when I ask for Fred Hornkohl to be paged...
  14. He had no walks, and 2 of the homers came after what I'm told were uncalled strike 3 pitches. Sounds like he was getting squeezed and grooved a few. I didn't see him though.

  16. I'm fine with Wood's outing today (though I wish it had gone another inning or so). He looked very good aside from the homers of course. But if the offense doesn't improve, Wood won't matter. Not trying to be glib, but should we care how he looks or what the results are? Giving up 3 HRs in 5 innings isn't good, even if he struck out 15 batters. That's always been the problem with KW No...no it hasn't. And yes, considering the amount of time he's been gone, this is like opening day for him. As I recall, Z wasn't too sharp on opening day, and he's doing fine now. KW's problem has been walks. So the occasional homer or hit scored runs. 2 of the 3 homers were solo. Considering everything, I'm not concerned about Kerry. I'm concerned about the lineup.
  17. At least he's playing himself out of being Cub long term...(I hope)

  19. I say 'college of coaches' again. Spread the hate! I'll be burning a large C out in a field later if you want to join.
  20. That was all as far as I know...he's just not gotten any kind of clutch hits at all this season. Didn't he hit a PH home run in a big game? I don't really remember... His one homer came on April 5...not sure how big it could have been.
  21. Is it trendy to say Fire Baker again? Or is still trendy to say that we're coming out of it? I don't know which crowd to follow.
