    The color guy on the St Louis and Seattle game informed me that Marc Bulger is "Razor Hot".

    I really wanted that game too....for some reason, they refuse to show the Rams in the Chicago area. Move a little south. Down here in the middle of the state we get a lot of Bears, Rams and Colts games.

    ...and really, the only reason I wanted Girardi in as manager, so he'd bring Kranitz with him. Ah well, it'll be entertaining at least to see a "firey" mgr at Wrigley! :? Well, Kranitz re-signed with the Marlins yesterday. That's prolly because he knew Girardi wasn't going to get the Cubs job. I'm beginning to think Joe isn't going to get a managing job this year. If Lou comes to the Cubs, I don't see how Girardi doesn't get the Washington job.

    Ogunleye should sit...it will give him plenty of recovery time with the bye. And there's no way that the Cardinals should give us so much trouble that we we miss Adewale.

    I don't consider myself a hockey fan, but if the Hawks have a reasonably successful season, I'll try to keep somewhat of an interest.

    No, they're not sold on him, and they shouldn't be, especially if he comes in looking for $8 mil a year. What happens if he strains or pulls a leg muscle? He's not going to hit you a bunch of home runs. Really, he's one leg injury from being a totally ineffective player. Oh I completely agree. I'm glad they're looking at that as a spot to upgrade.

    They've done a good bit of investigative work on Carlos Lee and Alfonso Soriano, whom they nearly got in 2000 in the Sammy Sosa traded that didn't happen. A lot of this will become more clear once a new manager is on board. What are their thoughts on Murton? They like him a lot, and believe it or not, they're well aware of the comparison of his second-half splits with those of Carlos Lee. What they may do is see if they can get more power in center field. They do believe Murton will hit more homers than he did this season. I believe that as well. He'd be a great option at about $400,000, allowing them to spend the money elsewhere. So they aren't necessarily sold on Juan Pierre?

    Promoted to what? Hendry has been GM during entire existence of this board, so you can't be talking about his promotion to GM.

    And won't Jim probably sign whatever manager he gets to a 2 year deal only? Aren't GM's usually unlikely to sign a manager for longer than their own contract?

    Baker had more experience than Girardi too, and given his "track record" was considered a safe choice.

    If Hendry really thinks Piniella is the right guy, while not who I would have chosen, that's fine. I just wish he hadn't limited his candidates so much. It seems like there were a lot of options that were never explored.
