  1. Mulligan and Hanley? I need to stop listening to Mike North on the way to work too, but I just like to hear Chicago sports in the morning, so that's my only source. I don't know who these guys are, but I think I heard somebody say Mulligan, so I guess. I turned on North, but that guy is painful to listen to. Mike Mulligan is a Sun-Times columnist and Brian Hanley is a Sun-Times staff reporter. And yes, North is very very painful to listen to.
  2. Is it necessary to seperate the Wiki's? Could the contract, transactions, and scouting wikis' all be part of...say NorthsideBaseballWiki.com? or Wiki.Northsidebaseball.com...something like that. Is there value gained from seperating them out? It seems like being able to have be a "one stop shop" would be more valuable. Great ideas though. Very exciting! :D

  4. I agree. If I was Benson I'd be saying something too. It's past time for him to get an opportunity. They were showing some of his comments on CSN last night, and they were showing some Thomas Jones runs over the top of that, and it was clear that Jones's dancing around is a problem...at least in my opinion.
  5. Alou was injured frequently when with the Cubs previously. And he's not getting any younger. There could certainly be worse signings, but I'm not a big fan of this idea personally.
  6. Already this sounds questionable. However, given that the 1B coach job seems to entail timing the pitcher's move to first and smacking guys on the butt when they make it to first base, it wouldn't be the worst of ideas. Don't forget...Murph was the one that reported that MacPhail would be gone about a month or two before it happened.
  7. That's a good place to start for him. Yeah...it would probably a good place for someone like Grace to start out too.
  8. Awwww...poor Sheff...he'll have to take his $13 million and play somewhere that the Yankees send him... Trades are part of the business. A lot of guys don't get to decide where they play. I have a hard time feeling too bad for the guy.
  9. It doesn't surprise me that Boras would say this. It gives his client leverage.
  10. Ok I can at least see the argument with the Giants, though I still wouldn't say they're the best in the NFC, I'll agree that they're right up there. But you're losing me here on Dallas. They've been overhyped all season long. Philly and the Giants are the class of that division.
  11. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. He also said they don't "giveaway" games. They beat the Cowboys, big freaking deal. That team is in dissaray. The Giants have some impressive wins, but they've also lost at home to the Colts and got destroyed by Seattle. They've beaten their division and Atlanta, which is admirable, but doesn't erase the losses. Eric Allen did the same thing on NFL Live last night. Schlereth (Yes, Mark Schlereth) and Trey Wingo both gave him a lot of crap about saying a 4-2 team was better than a 6-0 one.
  12. I dunno...individual teams can only appear on prime time 5 times during the season. The Bears will already have 4 (Seattle, Arizona, New York, and St Louis). NBC might want to save that potential 5th game for the last one of the season in case the Bears have a shot at 16-0 or (and probably more importantly in their eyes) Favre retires and it's his last game. I have never heard the 5 game limit thing before. You sure it's true? I did oversimplify it...I guess it's possible there could be a 6th. I'm not sure if NBC gets to decide which teams they want to have a 6th game...it's not clear. http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2006/04/05/flexible_scheduling
  13. Can't say I'm real excited about that...

  15. Great, I'm not going to get home until well after midnight. Are you going to the game? damn skippy Oh well let me break out some pity for your late night.... Damn...fresh out...

  17. The Bears-Giants game is officially moved to the NBC Sunday night game on Nov 12th. The Saints-Steelers are going to be on Fox at 4:15. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/9751740
  18. First the Arizona Cardinals turned into the Cubs last Monday, and now Dennis Green is turning into Dusty Baker. That sounds like SUCH a Baker quote.
  19. that's a lot of points for looking pretty bad on Monday night. Classic bounce back game expectations. I'd like to think the bye week will help the Bears but they are 0-2 in Smith's career after a bye, including an embarassing loss at Cleveland last year. Not the biggest sample size ever. I think it'll be more the bounce back game than that the game is after a bye. Yeah, the first year the team was terrible, so a loss after the bye didn't really mean much. And last year's team was quite shaky, and 1-2 going into the bye, so I'm not sure the bye was going to help anything. I'd take the 49ers and 16 points, thank you very much. I don't believe in spreads > 14 points. When you look at the history, the dogs usually take those. I think we would all do well to forget about margins of victory, and just celebrate wins however they come. This isn't college football. Any win in the pros is a good win, period. That said, the Bears would have covered a 16 point spread 4 out of 6 weeks so far.
  20. Does Iwamura hustle? *ducks and covers* 8-[
  21. that's a lot of points for looking pretty bad on Monday night. Classic bounce back game expectations. Yep. An extra week to reflect on a "bad win" to a team that got spanked by the winless Raiders this week, against another bad team this week. I think they'll cover.
  22. QFT Not to mention after having success against one of the leagues best defenses the previous week.
  23. Because he is a sally. Thanks for the medical report.
  24. I'm deluding myself into thinking that the Mike Brown injury won't have a huge effect. With the exception of the fumble return for a TD last week, Brown had been extremely quiet overall this season. I'm hoping Todd can fill that hole adequately. That said, you know they'll go right at him.
  25. Not to nitpick, but I made this joke much further back in the thread...joke stealer! :D
