  1. Yes, and we all know that pitching from the stretch is so much more effective than pitching from the windup. While, I bet you he would have just blown it past Aramis had he been in the stretch. Or better yet, if Lee is safe a butterfly would have landed on a dandelion and distracted Jenkins just enough that Aramis would have been able to hit an inside the park HR on liner. I'm confused. Where is this dandelion? I haven't seen any at Wrigley...if you're saying the dandelion is in the ballpark, I'm calling shenanigans. I mean come on...lets be realistic.....
  2. That #4 pick could be very, very interesting. Trouble is, Angelo has already alluded to the idea that getting a high 1st rounder might cost more in salary than the team is planning on, given they still will need to sign a few high-profile guys soon. Yeah, but you can then trade down from 4. :D Teams have had a ton of trouble trading out of the top 10. That's why I doubt this goes down. I don't see Angelo going for it.
  3. We have a winner! Actually I'll watch 24, and DVR Heroes so I don't have to wait through commercials for Heroes. It doesn't deserve that kind of interruption.
  4. Ugh...you just reminded me how interminably long the draft is. Yup-expect to wait at least 4 1/2, maybe 5 or more hours for your first pick. A couple of years ago the Colts had something like pick 28-they traded it when it came time for their pick for like pick 36, then when it came time for their pick again they traded it for pick 44. By the time pick 44 came (like 7 1/2 hours-8 hours into the draft) even though I liked the trades, I was screaming for them to pick somebody-just anybody at all considering I had been watching for that long! I'll watch maybe the first 8 picks or so...then I'll give up and check back on the net later...
  5. I don't mind CSN+...they use one of the public stations for it here. By the way, tomorrows game is on CSN+ because of the Bulls game.

  7. If that's the case, then you can't take credit, because I said that on the first page :D Your prognostication skills are well documented. You better be right. :club:
  8. I think you are right. Murton needs at bats to get his swing back. He just doesn't look the same this year. In the games Murton has started, he has a line of .357/.400/.393. PH is not his thing, but he's tearing it up when he gets playing time. His struggles are very greatly exaggerated. Cedeno going down makes more sense to me. Get Theriot some starts at SS and get both him and Derosa playing together on the infield, so you can get them both in the same game without using Derosa in the OF.
  9. I didn't know about some of these actually. Robert Machado? Steve Smyth? Clay Hensley? I think I probably blew over those news articles since they were in the minors.

  11. Worth quoting. These are the only games all year that I don't get to see.
  12. Don Banks has the Bears with Dwayne Jarrett. Actually, I wouldn't mind that. Moose is old and a young big possesion type receiver could be a welcome addition. I will be surprised if the Bears take an offensive player with that first pick though.
  13. Don Banks has the Bears with Dwayne Jarrett.
  14. journeyman, he made a few starts for the Cubs last year (and sucked) and pitched a little bullpen in september. Ever since spring training he's been lights out. I just don't get it. Those stats Fred posted clearly show how terrible he was last year, the only bright spot being his high K rate, which was completely overshadowed by his inability to prevent hits or walks. Oh, and I guess it's spelled "Walrond". Looking at his Baseball Cube stats I can see that he's really just been everywhere, never really finding success. The guy is 30 now! I keep thinking that "Walrond" is a cross between a Walnut and and Almond, but I can't figure out where the stupid R comes from.
  15. He's had a few good games this season, but hasn't really strung any together. While I think he'll pick things up, lets not get too far ahead of ourselves here yet.
  16. [over-reaction]If Z keeps pitching like he is, this may not be a horrible thing...[/over-reaction] But like others have said, if this gets tabled till the end of the season, especially if the Cubs don't start winning some ballgames, trade Zambrano.
  17. Which happens first? Lee hits a homer Pujols gets his average back to .300
  18. What is?
  19. Heh, yeah you had yourself a nice week.
  20. Thanks guys...that link is helpful.
  21. Just because of the Bulls? No, just because of the Cubs. I'm unable to hate the Cubs right now the same way I did last year. I'm sure that will be easier as time goes on and they don't improve.
