  1. Exactly. I have no faith in Hendry in any situation...at least if they're buyers, there's a chance he could get lucky like the Ramirez trade or Lee trade.
  2. They realize Murton is sitting in AAA right now, right? But you're not likely to get great numbers from anyone that doesn't get consistent playing time. Exactly. I want to feel excited about the possibility of Murton (and maybe Soto or Cedeno) getting the call, but honestly we all know what'll happen if they do. Arrive at Wrigley, wait 3 days before getting a start, going 0/4 with 2 Ks, banished to the bench for spot duty for a 2-3 week period before being sent down again. Newsflash, Baker isn't here anymore. I think Lou has been good about playing guys that have just been brought up. Also, I think he has shown the willingness to play those who produce, or who have earned more playing time. You are free to think what you like. It's America. I love the idea of earning playing time as if there should be a 1:1 correspondence from each AB to the amount of time one gets to play. Huh? I'm just trying to compare what I've seen between Lou and Dusty. I don't think you would have seen Fontenot get a chance to succeed under Dusty. Lou put him out there and was even willing to try him out of position in order to get him in the lineup. That's fine and all, but Murton, a guy who had already had some major league success never got the benefit of the doubt from Lou. He was jerked around with Floyd and JJ. The infielders (Theriot and Fontenot) got shots because Izturis was terrible, and Aramis was out for a while. They managed to perform well quickly. Now that they're coming back down to earth, they have already established themselves and earned Lou's respect. Meanwhile Pie is called up, it's said that he will be up for the long haul and get his chance in CF, he struggles some, and rides the bench with Angel Pagan getting his playing time. I think Lou is open to the idea of young guys, as long as they perform QUICKLY. I think Murton and Pie may take some time and patience. Yes, Lou is better than Dusty. But lets not act like Lou is some epiphany. He's just not as dense as Dusty.
  3. The question is, are the Phillies so desperate to get rid of him that they'd eat some of his salary?
  4. I don't watch a lot of Twins baseball, but I did see him completely OLE! a ball the other night that led to some runs scoring. I think it was the same night he got ejected after coming back out after his AB to argue with the ump.
  5. If you could get Burrell cheaply though, and get the Phillies to take on a chunk of his salary, I think he'd be a good gamble. A change of scenery could really be what's needed for him.
  6. Please, fill the internet will all your inanities and swap algorythms with your buddies until the cows come home...but DO NOT confuse yourself with a baseball fan. It is an insult to both the true fan and to the game. A baseball fan does not dishonor the game, or those who actually play it, by attempting to reduce them to silly equations. ummmm.....? It's in the article.
  7. I've quietly been hoping for that one for a while now.
  8. That just means you'll be twice as disappointed when it doesn't happen. Ouch. Since I'm already losing, I'll mention that it's already happened twice this weekend alone for me....8-) ONCE FOR ME!!! :stickman: :w00t: :trophy: :party1: :jive: :party2:

  10. I think I'm catching some backlash for TT's loss.
  11. My minor league forum absence is going to doom me here. I'm actually surprised I made it past TT. Thanks to all who voted for me up till now :)
  12. Boy he's getting a lot of sympathy huh?
  13. Can't be. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070705&content_id=2069988&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Unless he dropped the appeal.
  14. Bandeon's "frequency" would likely lead to his demise in that scenario Small price to pay then.
  15. I dunno...should we leave it open till tomorrow to be fair? I don't want to be accused of abusing my mod powers... O:)
  16. I know it sounds ridiculous, but, hasn't Hill been Zambrano's personal catcher since Zambrano has gotten really hot. That alone may be reason enough for Hendry to want to keep Hill on the big league club (not saying that I agree with it). I'm guessing that unless Bowen or Hill get hurt, Soto is not going to see any action until the rosters are expanded. If Blanco, gets healthy, Soto's chances of seeing any big league action are reduced considerably. Bowen caught Zambrano on 6/22. Zambrano gave up one run and had 12k's. Other than that, Hill has caught Z since the Barrett trade, but that's only 6 games.
  17. It stays open until Banedon takes the lead and then locks it. :D lol...every time I've seen it it's been tied. But I'll leave the locking of the thread to another mod to be fair.
  18. I edited your original post and changed the poll length from 2 to 3 days (I didn't see a way to just add a few hours). Raisin somehow just opens it up again and then locks it later We can manually lock it whenever I get the lead again..
  19. The name change could be hurting UK/Ping.
  20. 91 votes in the vance vs ping matchup, but only 77 in this one. Not sure what that means...a lot of undecided's or a lot of don't cares?
  21. I went with Sori, but him and A-ram are really co-MVP's IMO. I'm guessing that A-ram's homer last week put him over the top for a lot of ppl.
  22. Snoopy vs. Hobbes is a more apt way of looking at it. :D Well that's just unfair...Snoopy is WAY cooler than Hobbes... http://www.googlefight.com/index.php?lang=en_GB&word1=snoopy&word2=hobbes
  23. Yipe...I was up by 5 last I looked yesterday. But I'm not terribly surprised...I thought this one might be where I fell...
  24. Big change from the Benson holdout. Angelo's comments are telling: I wonder if he's referring to Benson at all, and how he had to rebuild his good karma with the team after his holdout?
  25. This has got to best the greatest non-sequitor ever. I have no idea what you are talking about. When I got engaged, a friend shared with me a story about the jelly bean jar. If you put a jelly bean in the jar every time you have sex with your to-be before you get married and then take one out for every time you have sex afterwards, you will never run out of jelly beans. we dated for a year before we got married and have been married for 8. by my calculations, I'd still have about 340 jelly beans in that bad boy "Dated" for 5 years, married for 3. I won't even begin to calculate it.
