Maybe it was made clear to Ryno behind closed doors that the organization had no intention of promoting him even in a few years when Quade may be gone. Hendry told Trammel that he had no future with the organization, so he left. It is possible the same thing happened with Sandberg.
Living pretty close the Rangers stadium, I've been rooting for them pretty much all season. But as they now stand 3 outs away I can't help but feel sad that yet another team will make it to the World Series before the Cubs in my lifetime.
It's obvious now that the Cubs have hired Quade that either all the chatter about Girardi being the top choice was wrong or that he was the top choice but made it clear to the Cubs that he wasn't interested. Got it now? But why was the timing curious? It's been reported it could happen soon. Quade has made a ton of sense from the beginning and a lot of people more or less assumed he was getting the job. What was it about the timing that makes you think it's curious? It would be curious timing to name Joe Girardi manager right now. It's not curious to name Mike Quade manager right now. You must be from Oklahoma, so I will type slowly. There were a lot of indications in the media that Girardi was the top choice and that the Cubs wanted to wait to talk to him before going with Quade. Since the Yankees are still playing, it was curious timing to seemingly give up on Girardi before even having the chance to talk to him.

Why? Because there was a lot of chatter about Girardi being the top choice, so I figured there wouldn't be any announcements from the Cubs until after the Yankees were done this season. Then maybe Girardi wasn't really the top choice and/or he made it clear he wasn't interested. Excellent analysis. The MLB Network would like to offer you a job dispensing your baseball genius to idiots like me.

It's definitely possible, but Girardi is from the area, played for the Cubs, has a wife from the area, and made it no secret that he wanted to come here after we dumped Dusty and before we hired Piniella.
Why is everyone assuming the Yankees want Girardi back for 2011? His contract is up, if I am not mistaken, and maybe they don't want to pay him as much as he wants. This is not a typical situation you are talking about here. If Girardi doesn't at least make it to the WS this season, I can see the Yankees deciding not to bring him back. They aren't completely rational and level-headed in NYC.
If we don't win this one, we might as well just leave Mike Sherman in Lawrence. dude. you're not gonna lose. Have you seen our QB that our idiot head coach refuses to bench? I'm not taking anything for granted the rest of the way.
Why are Texas A&M and UCLA on this list? Good question. I can't remember the last season we didn't lose at least 3 games in a season. After a quick check, we went 11-3 in 1998 and 9-3 in 1995. When we were on probation in 1994 we went 10-0-1. I was a student then. The tie was at the Alamodome against a terrible SMU team. That is without a doubt the worst road trip I ever went on. If we don't win this one, we might as well just leave Mike Sherman in Lawrence.
I agree that SOME of that has to fall on Cutler, but how many times did the tackles look to help double team a DLineman inside while a CB ran scot free right at Cutler?
Mike Sherman is a [expletive] sham of a head coach. Send him back to Green Bay and give me Jim Harbaugh. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
