I wish I could have seen the game last night. Being in Texas, I figured I would have been able to see it somewhere. Oh well, I'll get the Spurs and Mavs games. A Texas sweep would be nice.

The real reason it's there is because Brent and Kirk will be doing the Ohio State/Iowa game. Nope, it's McDonough and Millen doing the Iowa game. I'd go to Wrigley. College Station over Wrigley? Seriously? #8 vs. #19 in a football crazy state over a meaningless game in a baseball stadium? I must be crazy for thinking they'd choose College Station.

Screw ESPN for taking GameDay to Northwestern-Illinois just because the game is at Wrigley. Erin Andrews and her fine self (along with the other dummies) should be in College Station.

Why is the 2 year deal odd? Std. practice for a inexperienced manager tends to be either a 2 or 3 year deal. He has a 2013 club option, so he got something in the middle. 2 years with a club option isn't really in the middle of 2 or 3. The benefits of a longer contract is you have more guaranteed. The benefits of the shorter contract is you can renegotiate sooner or become a free agent. I would assume he would have preferred a straight 2 rather than giving the team an option for year 3. Right now he's not getting the benefit of a 3 or a 2. I would think that he'd rather have a longer deal than a shorter one. More guaranteed money that way. If he gets a long term deal and has a lot of success, he can renegotiate for better terms. If he has a short term deal and doesn't have success, he is out of a job with no buyout.

At the very least we can assume that CBS picked up the tab for pretty much everything they gave the employees. And probably more cash on top of that to get the Cubs to participate. If anything the show should have brought in a bit of fresh revenue to throw on the money pile for next year. So now we have enough for Cliff Lee? -
I may be mistaken, but I don't think you'll find anyone really on this board that feels Sandberg deserved the job. Most the people defending him in this thread just feel the hatred towards him is unwaranted.
