  1. Soler. He's a playoff baseball god
  2. I don't get it
  3. reds will send a 15 year old to hit, apparently
  4. which means he will be awarded first base
  5. whoever TF the reds right fielder is that made that catch makes soler look like a GG. he looked like one of those kids catching flies during the HR derby. (record for most double-capital-letters in one post?)
  6. welington castillo yeah, what about him? he's watching the game with me
  7. reds pitcher may have to be DLed for craning his neck to try to watch that HR pretty nice of the cubs to joke around for a bit during the first half of the bears game and then dong the horsefeathers out of the pitcher during the halftime. essentially - as we all know - they're just toying around with the rest of the league.
  8. well you also listed five throws too
  9. FINE. Both of you can come to eastern NC. Just make sure you wear your "make America great again" hats when you cross the state line.
  10. Well that sure was fun. http://img.bleacherreport.net/img/images/photos/003/625/447/hi-res-1f9ebd4a6251b2b5dfe58044fca1dda7_crop_north.jpg?w=630&h=420&q=75 The Cubs were going to celebrate anyway and obviously they schemed that the most fun way to do that would be a comeback win and walkoff. lol brewers. i think the brewers think it's a big deal when they beat the cubs but the cubs don't care bc the cubs are awesome and just kind of in cruise control mode now. In fact, the brewers mentality is sort of comparable to that of a child... http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/images/players/head_shot/605200.jpg well that makes sense because they will deploy that kid who made the impressive jump from the LLWS to MLB in 2 years. There are stats and you can look them up if you'd like but does it really matter at this point? plus I'm lazy. yep. that's a greek god. and guess what? jake also hasn't really been trying super very hard this year because the cubs are already too good and manfried had to talk to theo and joe and discuss which players would not try very hard this year so the cubs didn't clinch back in early august. but, now that they've clinched jake will be going back to god-mode to ramp up for the playoffs. this is also the same for heyward. pretty sure jake got hammered after the game yesterday but he doesn't give a horsefeathers and he doesn't get hangovers.
  11. I believe 11
  12. Dang I forgot about Fed, I believe he and his wife just had a baby the other day too. Being as this is a game thread, I read this and first thought it read Fred : (
  13. well, I have the honor of starting possibly the most anticlimactic game thread of the year. The Cubs lost yesterday but are the best baseball team in the world and clinched the NL Central yesterday, anyway. It was only a matter of time. I didn't even know I was back on the game thread lineup but soccer10k PM'ed me and apparently it's my time up. It would be very 2016-cub-like to inexplicably go on a 6-game winning streak now because this team is so awesome that they will win hungover tomorrow afternoon with their scrubs. jk the cubs don't have scrubs. anyway, back to business. the brewers will be starting someone with the last name of Anderson: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/525x330/alt/502624.jpg He seems not noteworthy. Even if he was he will be donged so dongs shall come. Cubs start Lackey. He's a horse. No, not a work horse. Just a horse. http://www.factfixx.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/horse-teeth.jpg I'm not sure the Cubs will care too much about this game, but I guess there is still HFA to consider. I woke up at 3:00 am (EST) and threw this thing together because clinched or not, you gotta support the team
  14. i don't have much of a life. most likely will catch the game. nothing more to see here, just letting you all know my plans like derwood. mods plz change my name to bizarro derwood.
  15. Here's my Fred story. I don't have a very personal story, but it still speaks volumes about him as a person, I believe I don't remember the exact year (let's just call it 2008), but I'm fairly sure I had just graduated recently from my undergrad and was in grad school. Or maybe even earlier because years run together like weeks nowadays, but I digress. Anyway, I'm still here employed at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and the Pirates are the mascot for ECU. My location at the time on my NSBB posts was "Pirate Country". I wasn't an active poster nor did my posts really contribute much to the community. But, Fred PM'ed me one day and said, "I saw where your location is 'Pirate Country' and I have an extra ticket for the Cubs-Pirates game in Pittsburgh. Want to come?". I swear to Christ I would have gone but I was 11 hours away and just wasn't feasible. I have no doubt that I was just another dumb poster on this board - especially at that time. It floored me that he would reach out to me and offer me a ticket to a game. It seems pretty trivial and in the grand scheme it is, but it stuck with me for sure. That gesture - especially after reading the other stories - meant and means so much to me. He will surely be missed and I hate that I never got the chance to meet this amazing person. RIP
  16. Cubs won't win the WS this year bc they will be first team to clinch and that's only happened three times via FOX broadcast (but the royals did it last year as one of those three. but still it's science)
  17. FOX broadcasts are the worst
  18. typically it takes a couple weeks to even begin to establish root structure so I am going to assume they have some sort of grass PED?
  19. the cardinals knew about this a while back
