  3. apparently texas turned griffin into a zombie or something, im not real sure what's going on
  4. as much as i want to depants texas in austin, i really think we lose by 8 or 9 (i hope not though, we might be looking at a No. 1 ranking on Monday with a win)
  5. good call on carmelo
  6. jordan generally took the shot and, more times than not, made it. you knew he was going to take the shot and there was nothing you could do about it. i remember him passing to wennington at the end of the knick game in 95 and pax in the finals in 93, but jordan was taking the shot because he was generally the only one he trusted with taking it. that's not what i'm talking about though. Defenses had to account for the fact that not only was jordan the best player in the league, but that he would dish it off if he had to. Same with LeBron. Maybe you want to zone at the end of a game and take the paint away, but as a coach are you really going to commit 3 guys into the lane when LeBron will just dribble to the free throw line and toss it out to an open shooter? Carmelo's a deadly shooter, but if he has the ball, you really dont think "ok, watch out for the drive and dish here". You can sell out to just make sure a guy is in his face. With Lebron you can't do that.
  7. why does it have to be "who do you want taking a shot at the end" question? who would you rather have the ball in their hands at the end of a game, carmelo (or whoever else) or Lebron? ill take LeBron. He's not a great jump shooter, but he can get to the rim unlike anyone else in the league, and if the other team loads up in the paint, he's not afraid to make a pass to someone who will shoot. that's something that made jordan so dangerous at the end of a game.
  8. what the hell does the espn zone have to do with a website
  9. oh come on
  10. jerome james had a quote a few years back that made me laugh so hard, and now i cant remember what it was
  11. Goodbye for Ben Gordon after the season. It also means the end of Kirk Hinrich too probably. i heard recently that OKC was pretty interested in gordon from chicago to okc, ouch
  12. i would much rather see ray lewis try an afternoon of rugby
  13. that's just some fine posting right there
  14. oh my god, in their first game minus terry porter, the suns have scored 112 points with 2:33 left IN THE THIRD QUARTER yes it's the clippers, but they're on pace for like 160 points
  15. Wow, that's awesome for OKC. Why would NO do that, though? :-k Both those contracts are up after this year iirc. The Hornets are also probably going to move in the next couple years as well. Hopefully to Vegas or San Diego. yeah, expiring contracts chandler was a big fan favorite while he was here, i know he's struggled this year, but hopefully he can get it back together
  16. I'm not usually one to defend Meph, but Dex was asking for it. And it is a very valid and compelling argument, even if the data pool isn't very deep. I am concerned about Kosuke, but I am far from ready to jump on the panic wagon and label him a bust. But only time will tell. I guess I was asking for it, but he brought it himsel by basically telling IMB he was being foolish for wanting to see if Kosuke can actually hit before giving him the leadoff spot... as if that's so unreasonable When the alternative may be Aaron Miles, it might be unreasonable. why is the alternative aaron miles? we already know that soriano can hit well (compared to miles, especially) in the leadoff spot. What's the sense in moving him so we can make sure fukudome gets more at bats? i've said all along that fukudome isn't as bad as he was last year and i've pointed out at least a half-dozen times that japanese players take a season to acclimate, but then again, the ones that have succeeded in the MLB have never flopped as hard as he did last year. So pointing at Matsui and saying "see?" doesn't really cut it for me. edit jesus christ, aaron miles out ops'd fukudome last year. man, he sucked
  17. how sure of that are you on a scale of khalil to towels?
  18. fukudome opsd like 400 after april, he's going to have to prove he can hit before i'd feel good about handing him leadoff at bats
  19. well this makes sense
  20. 34-20 and they took him out with 13 minutes left
  21. i dont want zambrano to not pitch in the wbc because it will keep him from being hurt, i want our pitchers to skip it so they can be on a proper pitching program with the cubs' instructors (which now that i think of it may not be a good idea)
  22. damn, chris tucker got fat
  23. this thread suddenly has value
