  1. England Algeria Slovenia Yanks was better
  2. "Would you like to try that again?"
  3. patrick kane looks like a [expletive] goof
  4. Sorry, but I lol'd. Lots of things happen during a soccer game, I just think you get a better feel watching a game in a stadium than on TV (the disadvantage being having no replay though) From what I've been able to watch (on TV, obviously), neither of today's games was particularly good. (imho, the second one was just plain bad). the second game was awful, but it's always fun to see the french look awful
  5. First time I've listened to Stone do a white sox game ... it's disconcerting.

  10. this is so exciting.
  11. please just give it to auburn. im going to vomit if they give that to OU.
  12. my favorite thing about this expansion is that either way, OU fans are going to have to do a total 180 they always complain about 2 things, the self-congratulation amongst SEC fans (SEC SEC SEC chants at games) and that the Pac-10 sucks and all their teams play weak schedules, etc etc now we're either going to the PAC-10 which will essentially be the little brother to the SEC and Big 10 2.0, or we're going to the SEC, and our fans will immediately start crowing "SEC IS THE BEST, A-NO. 1, KING OF NEW YORK."
  13. Simply because Notre Dame can't carry as much weight against fewer larger conferences as they did against more smaller conferences. Each superconference as more consolidated power than before. Again, it's not about them being locked out completely. It's about having to settle on more limitations and a smaller piece of the pie because the conferences just don't have to budge the way they had to before. The likeliest candidate is a new ACC with added schools from the Big East. But the situation on the east coast will probably develop last. The longer that plays out and the longer Notre Dame holds out, the less bargaining power they'll have if they decide to negotiate with the Big Ten. but there isn't much difference. There were 5 conferences, but not all created equally. The Pac-10 was driven mostly by 1 school. Texas rules the Big 12. Then there's the SEC and the Big Ten. The major players are still the same. And several of the biggest players want to play against ND. It makes no sense. Agreed. Real quick though, since you're kind of an impartial observer to the big 12 breakup/merge into the big 10... in your opinion, would adding texas make more sense than adding iowa state?
  14. Hahahah, the last couple of pages have been excellent.
  15. hockey fans are all frauds. No one gives a damn about the sport until their team is good and then it's all you hear about.
  16. Talk about being young at QB, it doesnt get much younger than the Illini this year. Id think they have to at least let McGee get some reps in case something happens. it's hard for me to get behind someone that young. You don't want them to be too loose out there, but the younger they are, the tighter they get. It can be fun ride for a while, but most of the time it's just too hard.
  17. Yes, because curling and bowling are both widely considered more exciting than baseball. anyone who's watching shitty hockey instead of the cubs should stop being a cubs fan
  18. he even has wood's ill-conceived facial hair and prior's floppy ears this might honestly be proof that god hates cubs fans
  19. I know this is kind of over the top after just a handful of professional outings, but he looks like he combines the best of Wood (crazy movement, velocity) with Prior (ability to locate EVERYTHING). That is terrifying.
  20. Watching the highlights again, strasburg was painting the corners with that fastball, which really reminded me of Mark Prior. Only he was throwing it 98-99. The whole thing was awesome to watch but it also made me sad.
  21. the same pirates team that is like .900 against us.
  22. If there was ever a game to loosen the reigns on his pitch count it was this one. Could've given him a chance at an MLB record that likely would've stuck for a long time, while at the same time giving the people who showed up an even better pitching performance the the one they actually got. It's already going to be remembered as one of the most dominating pitching debuts in history, but it could've been THE most dominating in history if they just loosened up and let him go to 110 just this one time. It was a special game, they should've made a special circumstance Du.. Dusty?
  23. Oh [expletive], you got me. Oh, wait. you didn't. I didn't say he wouldn't be special, I said I didn't think he'd live up to the hype (you know, the he'll be historically good-get his HOF bust ready stuff). It was really, really impressive. But it was one game, and it was the Pirates. What Kerry did was far more impressive, and we know how that one turned out. Strasburg has a better command of his repertoire, and looks like a special pitcher. But a lot of people are having hyperbole laced, premature baseball ejaculations over the guy. He's good, but he's not pitching Jesus. playing devil's advocate is only fun as long as you don't make yourself look like an idiot in the process Try following your own advice there, champ. Anyway, Strasburg was very impressive tonight. I liked what I saw. I'm really liking all the young talent that's either in the Majors or not too far away from it. You have one hell of a who's who 10 years from now: Lincecum, Strasburg, Harper, Castro, Chapman, Mauer, Heyward, and probably a dozen or so more guys I won't name right now. It just seems like the talent level coming up is on another level from a lot of the young talent we've seen at any other point. erik, please refrain from unprovoked personal attacks, we were trying to have a riveting discussion here.
