  1. That is a crazily short-sighted idea. It's the exact opposite actually. I'd like to see what we have in Marmol, Guzman and Hill so we know who to trust with a rotation spot next year. If Maddux is still around, that only leaves one spot to use for them. If Prior is 0-6 or 0-7 with around a 9 ERA, it's probably better to just let him rest for next year instead of risking him getting hurt when he shouldn't be pitching in the big leagues anyway. I have respect for him as a professional and a human being, and I don't want to see him go through this embarrassment too much longer. We could use that extra rotation spot to give starts to Hill, Guzman and Marmol. These guys average about the same age as Prior, so I don't really get your point.
  2. Barrett was left off because he wasn't having a good enough year. I've been trying to tell everyone that all year. I like him a lot, but he just isn't an allstar this year. Why this is a shock to everybody is beyond me.
  3. Prior looked good at times in his last start, but his performance over the next couple weeks will determine a lot. I'd give Prior 3, maybe 4 more starts, and if his ERA is still around 9, I'd send him to AAA for awhile to figure things out or just shut him down altogether (probably the smarter move). Assuming Maddux is still around, go with a rotation of Z, Maddux, Marshall, Hill and Marmol/Guzman the rest of the season. I don't care if Hill's ERA doesn't change much the first month back; just leave him in there rest of the year.
  4. Just off the top of my head: C Pudge Rodriguez 1B Derek Lee 2B Alfonso Soriano SS Omar Vizquel 3B Aramis Ramirez OF-Manny Ramirez, Vlad Guerrero, Michael Restovich, Gary Matthews Jr. SP-Z, Pedro, John Smoltz, Greg Maddux, Juan Cruz, Livan Hernandez, Orlando Hernandez, Barry Zito RP-Mariano Rivera, Joel Zumaya, Duaner Sanchez, Eric Gagne, Brad Lidge, Tim Worrell, Flash Gordon
  5. He came darn close to the QS today (was at 3 ER in 5.2 IP when he gave up the bloop single). Yeah, he did. That was a cheap hit. Unless it's Ichiro swinging the bat, I wouldn't assume anyone who gets such a hit was actually trying to do that. And as a side not, I always thought a QS was 7 IP/3 ER. I looked it up though, and you're right. They should change that. I don't necessarily think a 4.50 ERA is quality. It's ok, but I think my meaning of quality is different. I don't see much point in tracking average/mediocre starts as a stat. Sorry, that was kind of a rant.
  6. Maybe Dusty decided to platoon Murton with Jones but since Jones is lava hot right now, he's riding it out.
  7. Yeah, pretty much. Hit 94-95 when he needed to, sharp breaking ball. Poor command. Hopefully just from the layoff.
  8. The problems are going to be age and the money he's looking for. He's going to be 32 this coming season, so it's going to be harder for him to do as well in future years as he did during his prime. I like him a lot as a defensive threat, but breaking the bank on him would not be a good idea, imo. I'd rather see this team explore relatively cheaper options, lock up some guys with extensions, and wait until next offseason to go on a spending spree. There are going to be some really good FAs and RFAs next season who could have a much better impact on this team than Wallace. What kind of guys are gonna be out there for the post next year?
  9. The reason Wallace wants to leave Detroit is that he wants an offense to run through him. Would you want to run your offense through Ben Wallace? Nope. No good team would. If he wants that, he should go to the Hawks. If he wants to win, he'll find out quick that he's asking too much, and he'll can that idea.
  10. I like Harrington and Wallace. I don't understand why people don't like Big Ben though. I like that the Bulls are a defensive oriented team, and he would fit in. He's better than Chandler IMO, so we could either keep the two of them or trade Chandler and have an improved team.
  11. How to put this nicely..... Hmm.... You posts in the other thread were some of the most ignorant things I have seen posted on these boards. You rationalized blowing up a car in order to piss someone off, and then kill them. You "clinically" diagnosed someone as insane......WITHOUT A CLINIC!! At first I thought you were just kidding, but as the posts continued, I know realize you not only believe what you say, BUT EXPECT OTHERS TO AGREE WITH YOU!! My god, I think I may understand why you "insane" roommate tried to drive you away. I was very calm and took a lot of crap in my situation where most would have beat the pulp out of that guy. The gentleman in the video was quite reasonable, and I could relate to his situation because of my experience. Take a chill pill.
  12. I love your Zito love. We need one more pretty reliable guy to back up the bottom 3 three though. Hopefully it's Marmol, but that's expecting a lot. We'll see how he progresses.
  13. And the best part is threads like this don't get locked, mods join in on the party.
  14. I can't believe what athletes get away with anymore. I don't blame you for disliking Ross. What? I like Ross. The reason I knew this answer is because I've been talking about him as an allstar C for a month now. Take another stab at that one. I was playing dumb. He put in his irrelevent comment because I was right, and he doesn't like me. Then he started to feel guilty and made a confusing comment about it relating to Ross.

  16. Well done. I guess that's my punishment for getting the question right. See how you react to someone sabataging your life and breaking your guitar stuff while the authorities ignore you.
  17. I was kinda impressed by this outing. His WHIP was terrible but his stuff seemed very good. I'm hoping he's just having control problems from the layoff.
  18. Oh well, better luck next time. It was fun watching Prior K all those guys though.
  19. Alright, nice pitch, now we need that DP.
