  1. Before that Soriano double, there were 50 outs made before someone hit an extra base hit
  2. LOL @ Dusty for switching pitchers for Ryan freaking Theriot. Also, I'd almost rather not get the run so Wood can get a save so we don't have to hear "Wood hasn't had a save since April XX" Nevermind, score 75 runs with 2 outs here.
  3. Probably some top prospects (he makes 0 money and is pretty good). We would have to throw in several cases of beer and whiskey for Olsen.
  4. I've compiled a list of games the Cubs could have won/lost (obviously close, but not hard to fathom them winning), obviously should have won (but lost), and obviously should have lost (but won--none of these yet). These are the games that the Cardinals have been winning lately. It might be interesting to keep this updated throughout the season to see where the Cubs won/lost the division. SHOULD HAVE WON: Thursday 5/1 vs. Milwaukee (Wood blows it in 9th) COULD HAVE WON: Monday 3/31 vs. Milwaukee (Tied it in bottom 9, but lost it in 10th) Friday 4/4 vs. Houston (DeRosa error in 7th costs cubs 2 runs) Friday 4/11 vs. Philly (Fukudome drops ball in gap scoring 2) Thursday 4/24 vs. Colorado (Theriot error in 8th) Friday 4/25 vs. Washington (Howry gives up walkoff) Sunday 4/27 vs. Washington (Cy Lannen gets out of a few bases loaded jams) Friday 5/2 vs. St. Louis (Fox gives up walkoff to Babe Schumaker) Sunday 5/4 vs. St. Louis (Overall a close game) Monday 5/5 vs. Cincinnati (Give up 5 unearned runs, boneheaded move by Fontenot) Tuesday 5/13 vs. San Diego (Lost 4-3 to Shawn Estes, rain shut down all offense both sides) Saturday 5/17 vs. Pittsburgh (Soriano on fire, but Bad Z shows up and McLouth beats Marmol) Tuesday 5/20 vs. Houston (Hunter Pence Grand Slam is all the Houston offense in 4-2 Cubs loss) SHOULD HAVE LOST: Wednesday 4/23 vs. Colorado (Aramis ties it, Wood blows it, but Cubs win in extras) COULD HAVE LOST: Saturday 4/5 vs. Houston (Cubs scored 5 in 7th) Monday 4/7 vs. Pittsburgh (Cubs blow 7 run lead then win in extras) Wednesday 4/9 vs. Pittsburgh (Wood blows it in 9th, Cubs win in 15th after blowing it in 14th) Sunday 4/13 vs. Philadelphia (Zambrano reaches on error in 10th) Friday 5/9 vs. Arizona (Lilly and Soriano get clutch hits, Cubs win 3-1 vs Haren, great win) Saturday 5/10 vs. Arizona (Soriano and Ward with big hits after trailing in 7th) Sunday 5/11 vs. Arizona (Reed with game tying HR in 7th, Ward with big PH double in 8th) Thursday 5/15 vs. San Diego (Dempster can't quite finish it, Wood gets save) Friday 5/16 vs. Pittsburgh (Howry makes it too close for comfort, but Cubs win 7-4) Sunday 5/18 vs. Pittsburgh (Cubs scratch across 4 garbage runs and beat bad PIT)
  5. This guy's name makes it sound like he should be playing chess or appearing in an adult film...hell, I guess he could be doing both.
  6. Ascanio could be a contributor in the bullpen next year when Howry, Eyre, and possibly Wood leave via free agency. Could end up being a good trade for the Cubs.
  7. Maybe SportsCenter can use Lee's hustle as their lead story tonight...or is that only if Grandpa Pujols does it.
  8. He's got the same BA as Lee. Obviously pretty much 0 power, but if he bats .331 all year with a decent OBP and Cedeno keeps it up, DeRosa better start subscribing to some good magazines to read on the bench.
  9. It's weird. He's still making the unbeliveable plays, but somehow screwing up more "easy" plays than he used to. I'm chalking it up to weirdness and he's just getting all of his errors out of the way now.
  10. Not that I don't like DeRosa, but if Lou is intent on sticking with Theriot at SS, then DeRo should be sitting until Ronny cools off.
  11. Why would they use a GOOD hitter to bat?
  12. You gotta give it to DeRosa, when he slumps, he slumps hard.
  13. assuming no one grounds out to Jeter. But, with his range they might not. =D> =D> =D>
  14. That would have been last year's Dempster "groove"...
  15. Yost strikes again. Too bad for the kid, but hopefully this brutal error by Yost doesn't lead to his firing.
  16. Which awful contract would you rather have? Zito has 5.75 years and approximately $112 million remaining Soriano has 6.75 years and approximately $124 million remaining ("only" made ~10 million last year)
  17. Nix is garbage. Their 2nd base hole is going to creep back up here with Tulo out and Barmes having to move back to SS for the time being. Theriot and a prospect for Brian Fuentes?
  18. The Giants have a full we're not going to trade Linecum clause. That's not true. Especially if they are going to be able to get rid of their $18M/year LOOGY...
  19. Just want to see what the consensus is. What better time than after Wood blows a game. I vote for keeping him where he is. If he was the closer, he'd never get to pitch because of all of the clownbags in front of him blowing the games in the 7th and 8th.
  20. Alfonso Soriano, Jason Marquis, and Rich Hill for Barry Zito and Tim Lincecum Then sign Bonds to play LF...after Soriano's "effort" after that ball today, he can't be that much worse Johnson Fukudome Lee Bonds Ramirez DeRosa Soto Theriot/Cedeno Zambrano, Lincecum, Lilly, Dempster, Zito
  21. I wouldn't blame Cedeno for stabbing Lou with an axe. Fontenot, really?
  22. 2nd time this season where Lee's athleticism has paid off. The Philly game where Howard missed the DP and Lee made an awesome defensive play was the other.
  23. Ya, I'm a pretty harsh grader apparently. Although most of the points I took off can be fixed. Like 2/5 for hometown fans, that obviously doesn't have much to do with the stadium. And when the buildings surrounding the stadium are built up, that will give them more points. On my current scoring system, Wrigley and Fenway would probably score low, but I give them bonus points to put them over the top.
