  1. I agree and I'm not sure of his contract situation, but if he is signed beyond this year, it would allow us to let Eyre go and have Fuentes and Cotts be the left handed options out of the pen.
  2. Ben Sheets is out for the year? Gallardo (their clear #2 unless Sheets is injured)
  3. Sox have this division all but wrapped up. Detroit's pitching is bad and Bonderman just went down for the year. They have no prospects left to trade for more. Cleveland just lost Westbrook and have been bad on offense. Hafner is off the juice. Minnesota just isn't good enough yet and have finally lost that psychological "edge" over the Sox since losing Hunter and Santana (not to mention they're damn good players). Royals just suck. They have a 5 and 1/2 game lead and Thome, Konerko, Swisher, and Buehrle have been awful. Game over.
  4. IMO, Here's what we might see in Toronto/Tampa/Cell: vs. LHP Soriano LF Theriot SS Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Soto DH (to get a few days off from C) Fukudome RF DeRosa 2B Blanco C Johnson CF vs. RHP Soriano LF Theriot SS Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Fukudome RF Soto C Edmonds CF Hoffpauir/Ward DH DeRosa/Cedeno 2B It's nice to have a good team!!!
  5. 7th anyway. DeRosa must have laughed when he saw he was behind Edmonds... ...in the lineup.
  6. I picked "other". There honestly isn't 1 guy you can give this to. You take away Z, Dempster, Fukudome, Lee, Soto, or Ramirez off this team and we're a good 3 games worse. Maybe Soriano, too, although he has given away a few games w/his defense, he has singlehandedly won a few as well. It's nice to have a very good team, not just 1, 2, or 3 great guys (See 1998 Sosa & Wood) or even 2003 (Wood & Prior). Edit: Include Marmol as well, he has "saved" at least 4 or 5 games by getting out of ridiculous jams.
  7. Listen pal, talking bad about Soto is like talking bad about Castro in Cuba. You better destroy that post or expect a few bricks through your windows. I'm just sayin...
  8. Ramirez can't wait for real summer to come...
  9. According to the 3:20 ESPN 1000 radio update, Neal Cotts has been called up and Jose Ascanio sent down. Why would they do this? Ascanio has been very good.
  10. I mean, thats a lot of pitches for a young guy, but what's the manager going to do? If your starting pitcher can't get through 5 innings, your bullpen is going to be overused as well. Obviously, Cueto is more valuable to their long term success than some middle reliever, but the kid has to cut down on his pitches. It's not like when he left Volquez in against us when they were up 9-0 in the 7th, which was completely moronic. Dusty's whole pitching/use philosophy obviously sucks and that probably has a lot to do with why Cueto is throwing so many pitches, but not pulling a guy before the end of the 5th inning in those situations isn't really the worst thing.
  11. Please don't say that he just hit a granny. When I hear granny, I think grandmother. A very disturbing image you just described. Don't worry, he only hits grannys when he needs coke money.
  12. God would call it a tie and award Ditka the bronze medal. Wow, I referenced God in my 666th post. Weird.
  13. God would call it a tie and award Ditka the bronze medal.
  14. 30 pitches or not, he'll be back out there tomorrow.
  15. Tommy Lasorda=Cubs good luck charm. Sign his senile rear end for the rest of the season.
  16. I'm calling it: Wild pitch and Soriano caught going home. Lou makes excuses afterwards.
  17. Thanks for giving us Fontenots bases loaded stats, Comcast.
  18. White Sox with a putrid defensive 8th inning going on right now. They just butchered a pick off rundown play w/the bases loaded allowing guy from 3rd to score...moments after Konerko drops an easy throw to first.
  19. Why not bring in Dempster to bunt? He's the only one who can do it consistently for the Cubs this year.
  20. Am I the only one who thinks Bob has been pretty unprofessional lately in regards to Soriano? Ever since the dropped ball he's been ridiculous. Meh, its local broadcasting. They are over the top complimentary most of the time. Nice to see Bob going the other way with it, like most of us on this board. That being said, I'm sure the Cubs will "politely remind" him who pays his salary and we'll see less of it from now on.
