  1. That and the Giants swinging at the first pitch. Yikes, they are a bunch of bad and dumb hitters. We better not give up more than 3 runs in any game this week.
  2. Lilly really has a putrid swing, the pitchers who have allowed him to have a .233 average should be ashamed of themselves.
  3. Hey CSN, please stop showing the Cards fans. We get it, they are Edmonds fans and are in San Francisco. We can draw our own conclusions.
  4. Now all we need is for the Giants to be in the playoffs and world series and we might have Ted Lilly be MVP of those series!
  5. Mark Reynolds bomb. 6-3 AZ 1 out in top 8th.
  6. Troy Percival tries to blow it vs. Red Sox, gets pulled and JP Howell gets the last out. Rays win. Percival is eventually going to blow up big time for the Rays, he's been putrid lately and lucky he hasn't blown multiple games (including 2 vs. the Cubs). Hopefully they can get someone to fill his shoes and beat out the Red Sox and Yankees for that division.
  7. I don't get the constant demeaning of Sox fans. We sound like them, when they call us a bunch of dumb drunks. We need to stop worrying about the Sox, let alone what we think their fans are like. Some of my Sox friends are good people, nothing like what you describe. If you add the word "mullet" anywhere in that sentence, though, and you might have a Cards/Braves fan. Nah, we get drunk and start fights with the opposing teams bullpen. Much better. It's called a joke. Get a sense of humor. There are bad stereotypes about every group of fans and its fun to play around with them. Not every post is as serious as the 7th game of the World Series. Have fun with it.
  8. LOL at Sox fans. One of them just had a sign that said "We ditched work to watch the Sox on Comcast" Sure, if by "ditched work" they mean "have been on the unemployment line for the past 12 years so we could drink moonshine in our parent's basement and spend our government aid on a bad Joe Crede replica jersey"
  9. It really doesn't matter what the White Sox do. Actually in this instance, it might. It could be great for the Cubs if the Sox sweep the Indians because then the Indians either have to crap or get off the pot regarding Sabathia. However, this could also end up being awful if Sabathia is traded to Milwaukee or St. Louis (or anyone else in the NL) instead of the Cubs.
  10. Well, at least when we have our bad lineup in, Lou at least puts the guys in a pretty good order.
  11. Horrible, just a horrible sentence. People need to get over this woe is us, things will never change BS. Laundry doesn't play stupid, players do. The Cubs players have played poorly for the last week. THEY HAVE THE BEST RECORD IN THE NL(.5 GAME FROM BEST IN BASEBALL) Stupid crap like "we're still the Cubs" is the drivel you get from ancient homers like Marty Brennaman and Mike Shannon. People who make Joe Morgan look like a reasoned thoughtful individual. How is that a stupid sentence? Hasn't stupid baseball been a staple of the Cubs under every manager the last 60 years or so? Guys like Soriano, Cedeno, Theriot (this year), and Fukudome (lately) haven't exactly been baseball geniuses. The play where AJ tagged Marquis out after a wild throw to first last weekend is another example of a guy who knows what he's doing getting a guy out who had let up. I'm sorry that PECOTA and other statistics can't figure stuff like this into the equation, but it happens. There's a reason why teams like last years D-Backs make the post season once in a while. The Cubs should still win this division, but a few more injuries and a run of losses is going to make this summer a heck of a lot more worrisome that it should be. This year is becoming very 2004-ish. That Cubs team had some holes and injuries, but with that talent--especially with Wood & Prior back at the end of the year, there was no excuse for not even making the postseason. Unfortunately, I'm starting to see a repeat performance, but won't be officially concerned until they fall out of 1st place.
  12. And the Cardinals pretty much never play stupid baseball. That is the main cause for worry. They suck, we all know that, but we are still the Cubs. Stupid baseball is what we do. Fukudome has been playing Jacque-like RF lately (like throwing to 3rd to let the guy get extra base tonight) and other things like DeRosa's mind fart in the 9th (you're down 4 runs, stay on the bag, moron) are the latest examples of idiotic baseball. Getting Soriano will help in the talent department, but he isn't exactly baseball Einstein out there. Hopefully we can get inspired by Z's return and mop the floor with the Redbirds this weekend.
  13. Not yet, but we are pretty much forsure going to lose 2 to the Giants (Cain & Lincecum) and the Orioles are garbage, no matter what their record is now, they will likely lose 90 games.
  14. What is everyone's worry level? Losing 5 out of the last 6 is pretty much unacceptable. A team with as much talent as the Cubs should have been able to win at least 1 game in each series. Hopefully they don't just blame everything on injuries and realize there are serious holes on this team and that they aren't able to be covered up by Geo's hot start or Theriot's mirage start anymore or that Marmol is very good, but not untouchable. Let's get someone Hendry.
  15. Link. I'm not known as a Soriano fan, in fact, I loathe his contract, but I LOVE his wanting to come back. People criticize him all the time for his gingerly running and whatnot after coming back from his injuries, but I'm starting to believe that he might have not been ready to go when he came back. He came back to help the team and IIRC was crushing the ball even when running at 70% or whatever he was. And now he wants to get back ASAP to help the team win. I might not like his game, especially at that price, but I can't really question the guy's desire or work ethic. Very Sammy-ish...and that's a compliment.
  16. Due to the awfulness in Tampa Bay, badness from middle of the order, Soriano injury, and the inevitable shoulder reconstruction of Z, when will the Cubs lose their lead?
  17. HGH does wonders.
  18. Actually, the neighborhood won't allow Friday night games (except for playoffs). And the Cubs and Sox have a "friendly agreement" to not play night games anymore unless scheduled by ESPN. This is due to several drunken, rowdy, brawling crowds at the Cell in the early years of the series.
  19. Go Phillies this weekend as well!
  20. +1 I was waiting and waiting for a bone stimulator joke the past 1/2 hour.
  21. LOL. You're telling me every player the Cubs have ever signed was clean? Hell, that minor league pitcher (Hernandez?) in the system was suspended for 50 games earlier this season. Should we release him? SIGN BONDS!!! Yeah, because that's the exact same thing. What's different about it? Besides Bonds being one of the greatest players of all time and this Hernandez kid being a Single-A nobody? I just can't understand why Bonds gets so much grief for doing roids. He's one of hundreds of players who did it. Just because he was a better player than them, he gets the majority of the business. Look, the guy is a first class dbag, but I'd take him in a heartbeat if he's going to put up numbers like he did last year.
