  1. If I see this Dick's commercial one more time on MLB.TV I'm gonna explode. I switched to the radio broadcast and what am I greeted with? DICK'S SPORTING GOODS... then a San Diego home run.
  2. #598 off of a Johan Santana fastball. Straight away centerfield. But Sammy can't catch up to good fastballs anymore. NEVER DOUBT SAMMY.
  3. The Silent T Middle Infield!
  4. Anyone else really wanting to see Sammy in the home run derby?
  5. lol that was one of the best finishes I've ever seen. I forgot Juan Pierre played for the Rockies.
  6. That was Kyle's 7th start in the bigs. He took Wood's spot in the rotation (Wood out for the year with TJ surgery). Kyle was sporting an ERA around 5.50 -- IIRC there were signs around Wrigley that said "We got Kyle", a sarcastic play on the We Got Wood t-shirts which were seen everywhere in '98. Also, Sammy's walkoff granny was off Hoffman. Looks like it was a 3-run HR.
  7. I remember tracking this one on AOL not believing what I was seeing.... http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1999/B06020CHN1999.htm Play-by-play not available but I believe it was a 2 out rally to load the bases for Sammy followed by a walkoff grand slam. Can anyone provide confirmation? Edit: Looks like it was with 1 out. Also checkout who started that game.
  8. I was searching through retrosheet and found a few games I saw as a kid that stuck out... 4-4-94 - Tuffy Rhodes starts off the year with 3 homers (hits 5 more that year before the strike) http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1994/B04040CHN1994.htm I had forgotten that we lost that game. 8-8-95 - Luis Gonzalez drives in 6 as the Cubs score 26 vs the Rockies. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1995/B08180COL1995.htm 7-1-99 - Mickey Morandini hits 2 homers (of his 4) in 1 game. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1999/B07010CHN1999.htm Those were the ones that came to mind when browsing retrosheet today. Anyone else got any?
  9. Then who hits for Dempster? Marquis?
  10. I'm voting for Rammy, Lee, Theriot and Sosa. Vote for Theriot!
  11. OK here's the deal... you have to write in his position so everyone remember to write him in as a SECOND BASEMAN. I see this as his best chance. I'm going to do about 300 a day minimum.
  12. I think its gonna be a long half inning for Snell.
  13. Consolation? We're not going to lose this game.
  14. Terrible camera work... does this have someting to do with WCIU? I wouldn't think so. K
  15. LOL Len... "If that ball's right on the plate they may have a chance at getting Soriano."
