Why do you think that? I don't think his curve is as sharp as a few years back. Mediocre fastball. I wouldn't mind him on the Cubs, but I would perfer Daisuke or Schmidt first. His curveball is still the best in the league. Not sure why you think it is not as sharp? Zito locates his fastball pretty well. He dosent need to have a 95mph fastball to have success in the big leagues.

Why? Makes 30-35 starts a year, average 15 wins a year, eats up innings, .618 career winning %, 1.25 career WHIP, .232 career BAA, 3.55 career ERA.

That would be a dumb gamble. Dont the Cubs have enough injury prone players already? Bonds may hit the HR when he is healthy, but he is a liability in the field. I rather have Murton than Bonds at this point.

Weaver has pitched pretty well in the playoffs. His 04 and 05 years were pretty decent with the Dodgers. 04: 13-13, 34 Starts, 220 IP, 4.01 ERA, 1.30 WHIP 05: 14-11, 34 Starts, 224 IP, 4.22 ERA, 1.17 WHIP If he could return to his Dodger form, he would be an ideal 5th starter.

Do you attend any of their games? I'm just a fan of IHSA baseball in the area as well as some of the local colleges. Did you ever get a chance to see Mike Bowden pitch? Yeah, I watched him out in Aurora at the end of the year. I watched Joe Benson a couple of times last year. I remember when I hit Bowden in the back with a pitch. Yeah, he is going to be in the big leagues. Im hearing he is being compared to David Cone. Couple of my teammates played with Bowden. They said he has made over 1 Million already. I never faced him when he pitched, but he just dominated high school baseball in the area. Anytime you throw 94-97 with a knuckle-curve at 77, you're going to dominate.

Hey had a kid throwing in the 90's. We beat them 7-5, and 2-0. Overall, they were probably one of the better teams we played, we just played really well against them. I think that kid throwing in the 90s was Cedric Redmond (Cubs draftee), which is why I asked. Yeah, we hit him pretty hard. I think he gave up 3 runs against us in 3 innings.

That seems alot like the Mill's program. Teaching proper mechanics, and functional strength are Mill's main points in his program. BTW, which JUCOs did you face this Fall? Elgin, Sauk Valley, Oakton, Kankakee and someone else I cant remember.

I have some books from him. Even though he is one of the top pitching instructors out there, I trust my coaches in helping me fix my mechanics. My coaches having giving me alot of information the past couple of weeks, about what my main mechanic problems are. I was like Weaver; rushing my body toward the plate. Thanks anyways UK. I appreciate it.

Weaver pitched pretty well tonight. I think he got a little tired in the 6th which resulted in his fastball being up.

Nothing wrong with that. Keeps the hitter's guessing. Yes and no. Having that many pitches can cause some issues in execution. I wouldn't think there would be too many nights where he would have control of each and every one of those. Maybe he would be more effective if he cut some of those out and focused on 3-4 of them, perfecting them as much as possible. As far as keeping hitter guessing, it is really a matter of fastball vs. offspeed. You recognize offspeed that it can be anything from a changeup, curveball, slider, etc. I don't think you can guess curveball, slider, etc. You can key off of offspeed vs fastball though, including cutters. Thats Weaver style though. Thats what got him into the big leagues. I dont have a problem with throwing so many pitches at different arm angles. Develop your own style. If you look at all the pitchers in the major leagues, none throws exactly the same way.

Why? Geoff Blum is a valuable Left-handed hitter off the bench. He can pretty much play anywhere on the field. He has some power in his bat, and he puts the bat on the ball. I love his versatility. hehe, no offense to your idea, but every phrase of your post is a "bad player" cliche. :) I said he has some power in his bat, and he puts the bat on the ball.
