  1. Honeymoon was months ago. I'm skiing next week. I'm not that excited about baseball, but still desperate for it to begin. Stop it, I'm trying to get into character for next week's big test.
  2. someone else was saying its good. hard to trust the opinions of college kids sometimes so its good to hear it from you. Has to wait for PPV though! I'm waiting for cable. Just saw King Kong the other day, first theater trip since........... I don't even remember.
  3. I'm bored, in love with Scarlett, desperate for opening day, ready to go on vacation tomorrow. How about you.
  4. Vanity Fair is my new favorite magazine.
  5. It's comments like this that always leave me scratching my head. You don't know that. What doesn't he know? That they could have had Giles, or that they passed? We know they could have had Giles as much as we know they could have had any other free agent. And it's pretty safe to say they passed. I don't see the head scratching.
  6. Yeah, I don't like how this worked. English's name came up late in the process, and he got the job right away before backing out. And at the same time, Tampa just signed their defensive backs coach from USC, while the Lions finally got Martz in the fold for their offensive coordinator position.
  7. That's not true. Wrigley will probably still have the worst and fewest bathrooms in the major leagues. And crappy food. Not to mention an underachieving team on the field.
  8. The Cubs have guys who can be adequate 2 hole hitters, they have no 5 hitter. Dunn would be worth almost any reasonable price.
  9. They're mediocrity must just be highly underappreciated.
  10. Dunn would be a great fit for the Cubs, and the price would probably be worth it. They don't have any must keep prospects. All their best prospects are at positions where they already have guys in place, and those guys are all relatively young. If you have to give up the entire farm, then no, but if you give up a major league arm other than the studs, and a few prospects, it would be well worth it.
  11. Baseball teams raise tickets prices based on demand. Did you really think the Cubs were going to stop raising tickets just because they added more seats? They added more seats because they knew it would increase future revenue. If you thought the seats would keep prices down, you're just naive. It's funny that this is supposedly a classless organization, yet Reinsdorf got the taxpayers to build him a new stadium, and several other teams all built themselves stadiums via tax revenue, while the Cubs have always poured their own money into their building and have to do it with unprecedented interference from the mayor's office and special interest groups.
  12. Well, I see you bought the propaganda. Sosa was bad at RBI's? They wanted to get rid of him so bad because he was done, not Dunn, who has a lot left in the tank.
  13. Are people really that high? I think I've seen one person predict them winning the division. Lots of people think they will improve on their .500 season and give the Cubs a run for their money. What exactly is wrong with that?
  14. Again, who cares about strikeouts? The Cubs are desperate for a big bat, and corner OF is the most logical place for it. They have a lot of weak hitters right now. If Lee and Aram go 3/4, they have nobody capable of filling the 5 spot appropriately. Dunn would be perfect anywhere from 3-5 on this team.
  15. What difference do his strikeouts make if he is productive? Answer, none.
  16. If you believe you are being lied to so frequently isn't it irrational to believe what they say in the first place, which would then make it darn foolish to get upset about it when you find out the truth? I don't see anymore "shadiness" here than I've seen in NY, Boston or Philly, the four teams I'm probably most familiar with their behind the scenes business. I think fans of any other team could probably list the same gripes you list about "being lied to", and in fact, I do hear the same stuff, just with different names, everytime I listen to sports radio.
  17. I wouldn't say the young players have to play over their heads. What they have to do is all play at the upper end of their ranges. Over their heads would be Rickie Weeks hitting like Ryne Sandberg at his peek, or Prince Fielder contending for the MVP. Those guys don't have to be that good for the Brewers to contend. But you are right, they need an awful lot to go right, more than the Cubs.
  18. They had a better record than the Cubs last year. They could easily do the same this year. Why should people wait for the team to prove itself before predicting that they may do well? That line of thinking would mean you could never pick the underdog, and really only pick last year's division winners to all repeat. I mean really, what exactly have the Cubs proven to say they will definitely be better than MIL? Personally I think the Cubs should and will outpace the Brewers this year. But I think it's absurd to get upset at people for thinking otherwise.
  19. I love how people take something someone says and twists it for their own objective opinion. AGAIN, where did I say I was peeved about them covering up the knothole. Speaking of knotholes, do you actually read what people are saying? Or just copy and paste parts of a sentence? What do knotholes have to do with that question? I read what you wrote, and I thought it was incredibly ridiculous. What exactly do you expect them to "give back" to you? What is it that all these other teams do that the Cubs don't do? Why do you feel they owe you anything? You pay for a ticket, you get to watch a game. You buy a jersey, you get to wear it. You turn on a tv, you get to watch the game. Of course, many of the games aren't on free tv now, but free tv is practically obsolete anyway. So, if you pay your cable bill, you can watch the games. Or, you could go to a bar that's showing it, and see how long you can go without having to buy something while watching for free. You were getting excited about the 2006 season, but then you found out the whole knothole gimmick isn't going to happen and that ruined everything for you? Give me a break.
  20. I was checking out spring training tickets for both Cubs games and another team's game and they asked me to register. I assumed that since I registered when I used to buy the gameday audio that would still work, and it did.
  21. I can't understand the sense of entitlement one must have to be pissed at the Cubs for not allowing people a free look at their games.
  22. I thought I saw Cowher mouth, "Where is Mike?" about two or three times.
  23. This will be the first year since it became an option that I won't be trying to buy tickets on the internet the day they become available.
  24. The bolded part seems to make it pretty clear that he does know about the draft pick exchange. Big win for the Bulls tonight. Now they need to win one more out of these last two, at least. Drats. That was awful on my part. Also, the sentence right preceding your paragraph: Alright, I get it! :D I must have read very quickly the first time around, because that is just apparent stupidity on my part. Wow. Can't believe I missed something that obvious. Not to rub it in or anything, but before that he said the purpose of the list was to rank the team's chances of winning the title, not getting Morrison. He just used that as a category name. At first glance I thought the same thing as you. How could the Knicks be in the running for the top pick, but then I read it and realized it was about ranking team's chances at winning the title, and not likely draft picks.
  25. Not exactly. Lee's average career numbers, .276 .363 .501, Ramrirez's average, .277 .329 .481, and Barrett's average, .263 .320 .420, would all be major disappointments. Jones would have to have a Bonds like career year to make up for those declines from 2005.
