  1. this is what i was thinking. Unrealistic. Dusty wouldn't recognize it as a stupid idea. He might not recognize it as stupid, but he would recognize that he'd get ripped to shreds by people who think it's stupid.
  2. read carroll's blurb again. he said his mechanics are what kept him together for so long. That seems to imply he has a week body, which I can't disagree with. Or that he pitched a ton at a young age.
  3. TAKE OUR PITCHER WHO HAS BEEN INJURED EVERY SEASON (WHETHER HIS FAULT OR NOT) AND GIVE US YOUR YOUNG STUD PITCHER WHO HAS NOT HAD HEALTH PROBLEMS AND IS ALSO CHEAPER. THX I wouldn't call Myers a stud, nor is he really cheaper.
  4. I'm not quite ready to cede to that side of the discussion. That's pretty much worst case scenario territory. If best case is he makes it back by mid-April, then second best is mid-May. Second worst would be he makes it back in-time to pitch significant innings this year, maybe 15-20 starts, but has to go under the knife for cleanup that delays his start to 2007.
  5. Wins wouldn't show you if a guy started 20 times or 33 times. Games started would tell you that. Look at G and IP if you are interested in his ability to produce over time.
  6. I could go either with with the Griese signing. I think the clamoring for backup QB help has been way overblown in recent years. I don't think the 2004 team would have done anything of note with some of the available QBs people were talking about, and I don't think the 2005 team would have been any better if they had a different backup. Backup QBs are backups because nobody trust them to start. You are much better off drafting a QB late, developing him along the way and paying him a small percentage of the cap as opposed to overpaying for proven mediocrity just to give you the feeling of stability. Griese would be alright for a backup. But this team's future isn't dependent on its backup QB. Depth is much more important on the rest of the roster, where backups routinely play several snaps a game.
  7. What happened to switch it from optimistic to suck?
  8. Saying they are negatively hurting his earnings potential is absurd. A good hitting 2B is worth more than a good hitting LF. But just because a guy moves from LF to 2B doesn't mean he can never move back. If somebody feels he's worth signing to a big contract next year to go back to 2B, they will, and the 1 year move to LF isn't going to change that. Soriano is going to get his money no matter what position he plays next year. The only thing that can set him back is a dive offensively, and Washington can't be blamed for that. It's his own fault he has an easily exploitable flaw in his approach to hitting.
  9. "I want to get Neifi as much playing time as possible, but I'm not going to say that out loud because people will rip me to shreds because it's a stupid idea."
  10. Admittedly that quote came from an anti-Cubs site that I found through google, but it's pretty accurate from my recollection. He was just tipping the local government workers for a job well done.
  11. Whoever it is, keep hitting it to him.
  12. Looks like he's doing it effectively.
  13. Confirm that it happened or confirm that you heard it?
  14. Way to run yourself out of a big inning......
  15. http://www.nba.com/media/nets/laura_gallery2.jpg I think it's Laura from Dix Hills. 6 of one, half dozen of the other. I'll take one. Is there actually a game going on?

  17. Okay, just checking. Wasn't sure if there was something to be gained by delaying the option clock. Yes, I am just replying to see this picture again.
  18. LIKE THIS! That was terrrrrrrrible. Goony, Is that a random girl in your sig or does she have a name? I forgot to ask. FYI
  19. It's only their 2nd first round loss in about 20 or more years. Anywho, *points to sig*... 2nd round is early.
  20. The bold is my entire point. You can't just simply justify keeping Delmon down because you want to delay his option clock. Especially, when he's likely to outproduce everyone they have on that ML team with the POSSIBLE exception of Huff and Gomes. That's when it crosses over to being cheap and not putting the best possible team on the field. Isn't it really the arbitration clock they were thinking about delaying? The option clock doesn't really matter.
  21. You can always count on Iowa to lose early.
  22. Yeah, after work, same with me, after.
