I would make note of this foolishness but I'm still worried about what the Royals will do to Wacha. you have too much pixie dust in your eyes to recognize the way things work in the rest of baseball. A top 100 MLB prospect and first round pick being good at baseball? Crazy talk.
I see what you're doing, but Shelby Miller is supposed to be good. He's not Allen Craig or Matt Carpenter. Craig had an .888 OPS over 2000 MiLB at bats. Carpenter had an OBP over .400 in his MiLB career and a 210/212 BB/K ratio.
You can name worst-case scenarios for every contract out there but at some point you need good players on a team to compete. Believe it or not, it's possible to get good players without giving out bad contracts. Possible, but pretty hard to do.
There are plenty of problems with WAR and I'd wager not many teams who are using advanced statistics to help evaluate performance put much weight to it. You would be very, very wrong.
wonder if the Yankees would go so far as to pay him to say that in an attempt to void A-Rod's contract Sure, if they wanted to have to give the Yankees franchise to A-Rod after the lawsuit.
