The handwriting was on the wall a long time ago. As long as we have Neifi, Jacque, and a marginally better CF in Pierre, and as long as we rely on getting starters back that have never performed over the long term, the Cubs are doomed. And always will be. I will always be a Cubs fan, always, but the futility here is self-imposed, pure and simple. Ronny, Todd, Derrek, Aramis, Greg, and Matt cannot compensate for Juan, Jacque, Glendon, Neifi, and the rest of the sub .300 OBP guys. Baseball doesn't work that way, and nobody should be surprised by the outcome. We gave away three promising pitchers to get Juan Pierre, is anyone surprised by the results? Clearly Juan was better than Corey, but he's not worth three good (but not great) pitchers. Baker needs to go...along with the rest of the management...period.
